I started writing break up letters to I’ (aka Israel) five years ago when I found myself trapped in Israel during memorials days, Nackba day and indipendace/ Land day due to Covid. It started with a small note on my phone I published as a story on Instagram. Since then I kept writing break up letters to I’. It has become a school paper, a try out of a performance where I insisted I don’t want to be the one who will read this text on stage (thank you Carlos!). Then it became a my graduation thesis project named To Break Up With I’. I finished it, got 18 out of 20, on June 2023. I was ready to leave this project behind, at least for a while. But then October 2023 happened, not giving me or any of us out there to run away and stop Breaking Up With I’. So I continued. I wrote more notes in my phone, read again and again my letters, and had to face the fact no one else can perform those letters for me on stage. And now it will have its International premier in the @amsterdamfringe In the meantime I understood I will never stop break up with I’. Instead of trying to stop I’m inviting others to join me. As @selmabanich told me Don’t internalize, externalize ! I would love to see you there joining this journey. 💌 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱  Led by @nashfole Next workshops (18:00-21:00) : 26/05 23/06 FREE/ GRATIS At @house_of_growfunding info: [email protected] (EN) The “Letters to Homeland” workshop is not a traditional writing workshop. We create a space for reflection, writing and artistic expression. The artist Naama guides us and provides texts and various exercises to structure the session (meditation, writing, reading, etc.). The aim is to deconstruct our relationship with the “homeland”, with borders, with the concept of home, and our feelings of belonging, etc. We create a supportive space for sharing where everyone moves at their own pace, reclaiming and reflecting on their own history. (NL) De workshop ‘Letters to Homeland’ is geen traditionele schrijfworkshop.

One day you enter a bookstore in gent and a book containing a text you wrote is being presented to sell under the counter. Life is truly surprising even in the darkest days. It is a great honor the text I wrote for my performance To Break Up With I’, is now published in this beautiful book. In the Absence of Bombs, curated and edited by Pascal Gielen and Bahia Shehab includes contributions from a list of artists and thinkers I’m in awe to be included in. Never could dream to have my name in the same list as theirs. I’m happy to share here a part of what Pascal and Bahia wrote about my work: “Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin, writing from within the contradictions of Israeli identity, offers a searing plea to unmoor the self from the violence enacted in the name of this identity. This ‘divorce letter’ is both intimate and confrontational: a political and personal document in which she calls not only for a separation from the structures of the Israeli state, but for an internal rupture from the narratives that sustain it. Through poetic fragments and philosophical reflections, she exposes the psychological dissonance of living within an identity saturated by militarized nationalism and calls for a different form of belonging— one rooted in refusal and vulnerability.” Thank you @valiz_books_projects @bahiashehab , Pascal Gielen and my artistic team @felixrapela and @azelikova for all the support

August 2025 @fundaziunnairs Research period for MotherMotherLandLand; How To Resist My Motherland Without Killing My Mother? “… I’m in an artistic residency in the Alps together with my mother. We are spending time in a completely different landscape, searching for a connection with a foreign land. Asking, can we be from here? Can we belong? Surprisingly, we are finding the same plants she harvests back home in heights our bodies have never breathed together before. When she arrived here, she told me, Ahovati, here, there are waterfalls of water; where we are from, there are waterfalls of blood.
We cry and fight. together. We grieve together. In the Alps, she taught me for the first time how to make fatayer. It all starts and goes back to this: to a fatayer filled with spinach we collect in the wild. Fatayer is the only leftover we still have from the history of my mother’s mother’s family, as Jews in Palestine who lived there long before 1948, and without relation to Zionism. We are learning how to follow the only leftover from the potential history our family, our identities, could have had…” Thank you @voiceofeye for representing my mother for the last sharying moment.

Aïe Aïe Aïe Une cérémonie de déculpabilisation en toute intimité It has been a bit more than 3 years since I first entered a studio and met 4 amazing women. Since I got one of the biggest gifts in my professional and not professional life and become part of Aïe Aïe Aïe. They have opened their door to me into their hearts, their lives, their imaginations, their creations and also a big door into new parts of me that were waiting to be discovered. Who knew that I will find myself dancing singing and acting in French English and Hebrew all at once in the streets of France. This last weekend we had our last show together, our last chance to unguilt and find force in our guilt together. Guilt can be something who stops us, but it can also be power for action. In the last two years we finished every show with the words of the Palestinian poet @marwan_makhoul : Pour écrire une poésie qui ne soit pas politique je dois écouter les oiseaux. Et pour écouter les oiseaux, il faut que le bruit des bombes cesse. @minervakautto @lila.marin @ciesalegamine @emiliecrubezy @roms_bossy et Samy Je vous aime Photos- from now all the way back and a final graduation photo
