This sculpture was made during the artist in residency at International Ceramics studios, Kecskemét in Hungary!
I was introduced new porcelain which are not available in London. It was very exciting opportunity for me to try a new porcelain! 😊 porcelain is a beautiful... beautiful clay! I am just so in love with porcelain! It never disappoints me... so far!!! It always makes me happy!.😊
Haha...! My journey with porcelain still continues!
I've developed quite few strands of works during this residency, which I will continue to develop on my return back in London...! 🥰

Day 22... at the artist in residency @icshungary in Hungary...
I loaded all my sclptures in the kiln for the firing coming on Monday... felt one big thing on my lists ticked! I don't feel relaxed yet though... it almost like that I can't stop running and has to keep on going and making... 😅😂 There are still more generous spaces in the kiln that I could fill in... then I thought... OK... I can make my favourite porcelain ring... keeps me calm and soothing... It's a nice practice for me... satisfying things to make! 😊

I'm giving a presentation of my artwork at the International Ceramics studio in kecskemét Hungary at 5pm!
My artist talk is in English but there is Hungarian translation and subtitles during the talk!

Naoko Tagai was the 2025 Aberystwyth Festival Residency Award winner. Originally from Japan, Naoko now lives and works in London.
As winner of the award she has a one month residency to use the time to explore new directions in her work.
She will make this presentation about her work and influences. All are welcome.
Thursday, 7 May, 2026 at 17.00 in the upstairs conference room at the studio.

I've been working on my bone necklace again today... it was a little struggle to get it right in the beginning... but it somehow made it to become a piece of sculpture...
I've tried few new thoughts and objects attached on this piece...

When I visited at botanical garden in Budapest last weekend One of the plants I loved and intrigued by was a Pitcher plant! 😂 I was puzzled first instance...where the leaves starts and flower... and stem...??? It was all in one...!! Intriguing plant!!! So... this new piece came out... I needed to make one!
