How exciting is this?! 🏺✨ @potterythrow The Great Pottery Throw Down is back on our screens this week — and we’re extra proud because two of the potters in this year’s line-up volunteered with us at ICF last year 🙌 From helping behind the scenes to now throwing under studio lights… it’s genuinely brilliant to see their journeys continuing and their talent getting the spotlight it deserves. Proof that the ceramics community is a small (and very supportive) one 💛 We’ll be cheering @billrollsceramics and @kazwoodspotter on every step of the way — tune in and watch along! #potterythrowdown #ceramicsfamily #ICF #volunteer

This is Euan Craig @euan.craig who came to Aberystwyth @icfaberystwyth from Japan where he lives and works. Euan built and fired a small version of the kiln he has in Japan and also demonstrated on the main stage, throwing using a very primitive borrowed kick wheel whilst sitting on a pallet supported on breeze blocks. You have to love the ingenuity of creative people

Doug Fitch and Hannah McAndrew @fitchandmcandrew demonstrating at @icfaberystwyth there is something really special about Doug and Hannah, they both make great pots, they are both lovely people and they have the most wonderful chemistry. Their two main stage demonstrations bookended the festival in a great way.

I let my arms tell the story!! Does anyone else do this? My brain is activated by moving my arms, they help me reach thoughts that otherwise hide away!! I had an almost constant stream of such wonderful feedback on my lecture @icfaberystwyth 'The Figure and Folk: Constructing Ideas at the ICS Residency' it seems that it was perhaps a far better experience to watch me dramatize the content of my videos than if they actually worked (just a MAC issue I think) as I had to describe them instead – so off my arms went conjuring the memory from the rest of my body to tell the story!! I found my experience @icshungary utterly transformative, a testament to the value of time and space an artist needs for reflection and regeneration. As I told everyone i spoke to, if you have the chance to go to this culturally rich, enchanting and beautifully resourced residency GO!! Thank you International Ceramics Studio, Kecskemét, Hungary for the photos x

Demonstrating at the Aberystwyth International Ceramic Festival in Wales @icfaberystwyth The figurines in make, and the textures I clad them in were both most requested at the demos next door. Thank you. Everyone involved with the festival. It was extremely professionally managed with impeccable hospitality and grace! It was lovely to meet old friends and make so many new ones. So happy to be a part of the world of ceramics!!! And happy to have shared this stage for the demonstration with @garethnashceramics Gareth, my #figurine atop your #horse made quite a few #waves !!!;) #ContemporaryCeramics #ContemporaryIndianCeramics #ContemporarySculpture #Ireland #Wales #aberystwyth #UK #UnitedKingdom #ClayIsTheway #AurovilleCeramics #Figurative #FigurativeClay #FigurativeSculptures #Textures #texturesinclay #contemporaryindiansculpture @aberystwythschoolofart @aberystwyth.university And thank you @benboswell for these photos!
