Where the desert meets the sea. Moments from an incredible doors-off helicopter flight with @namibia_helicopter from Swakopmund, flying out over the salt pans of Walvis Bay and down toward Sandwich Harbour. From above, the contrast is unreal. Bright pink and red salt pans, deep blue ocean, and massive dunes rolling straight into the sea. We flew low along the coast toward a shipwreck, with thousands of flamingos lifting off from the lagoons beneath us. This was easily one of the most memorable ways to experience Namibia’s coastline! The Devil’s Pitchfork. Rising out of the dunes in Sossusvlei, the Devil’s Pitchfork is one of those features that looks seriously otherworldly. This is one of those views that really drove me to booking our trip to Namibia, and your best opportunity to see it is with @namibia_helicopter at sunrise, when the sun throws long shadows and a heavy contrast onto the dunes. The Namib is considered the oldest desert on Earth, with landscapes that have been forming for millions of years. Between the towering dunes, dry clay pans, and dramatic rock formations like this, it’s a place that feels raw, quiet, and endlessly photogenic. All in all, a photographers playground! All captures followed strict animal welfare and safety protocols, ensuring quick, controlled handling with minimal disturbance. The fitting of GPS collars allows us to obtain accurate data on movements, home ranges and landscape use in Iona National Park. This information is essential for guiding management decisions, strengthening species conservation and improving park planning. Along Namibia’s Skeleton Coast. Flying out of Swakopmund, we followed the coastline past salt pans, lagoons, and endless sand meeting the Atlantic. From the air, you really get a better perspective of the scale of this place. Tiny waves, massive dunes, and colourful textures you just don’t see from the ground. Namibia from Above // Sossusvlei Seeing Namibia from above was surreal. From the air, the dunes stretch out in endless curves. The lines carved into the sand are almost too perfect, with golden highlights and deep shadows making everything look impossibly clean and satisfying.
