Chicago-based artist and designer Ayla Ellen Hayes (b.2002, Wichita Falls, Texas) works across painting, sculpture, and digital media, exploring themes of womanhood, belonging, and the body. Using fluorescent color, physical stretching, and gesture, Ayla reinterprets cultural artifacts of her upbringing, looking for a place for tradition and rebellion to coexist, both culturally and personally.
Ayla received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2025, working as co-director of Point Blank gallery from 2024. She has participated in exhibitions such as Congregation, Povos (2026); Empty Bottle Art Show, (2026, 2025); moving, still, SAIC Galleries (2025). Her work has been in publications including Mr. Magazine™ (2025) and Craftwerk (2024). Ayla is currently developing work for an upcoming exhibition at Vintage Quest in Chicago.
