American football is growing all over the world, and NAFO is committed to being part of that global movement. @bobbyokereke recently traveled to Japan and took time to visit the prestigious University of Tokyo. During his stay, he connected with the linebackers of the Tokyo Warriors football team—leading drills and sharing insight, experience, and perspective. These moments in Japan were about more than visits or pictures. They were about connection, development, and sharing the game with young athletes who are just as passionate. The gap is real. Across Nigeria, there is a major shortage of quality American football gear, especially cleats. The talent is everywhere, but access and structure are still catching up. Under the leadership of National Director Coach Kenny Nwankwo (@mrnwankwo ), NAFO is taking deliberate steps to change that. This NAFO activation in Enugu brought the game directly to the grassroots, introducing balls, flags, cones, training equipment, and essential sportswear to help young athletes get started. Another special appreciation to @hyginusoagu , the Honorable Mayor of UDI Local Government, Enugu for his support & backing. For many of these athletes, this was their first real exposure to organized American football. First drills. First reps. First glimpse of what is possible. This is only phase one. The initiative reflects our deep belief in the unifying and transformative power of sports, not only as competition, but as a vehicle for education, opportunity, and social change. The event featured an impressive silent and live auction, where guests bid on exclusive experiences and signed memorabilia from some of the NFL’s biggest names, including Hall of Famers and current stars. Local businesses and sponsors contributed bespoke packages and items, demonstrating a shared commitment to NAFO’s vision of cross-cultural collaboration and community upliftment. Every contribution directly benefits NAFO’s programs in Nigeria and the US, and helps ensure the future success of our athletes.
