"Masereel op z'n Kiels" is on view from today at @novakiel !
Together with more than 50 visitors to Nova (@ligo_antwerpen , @rechtopvzw , @academiehoboken and Creatief Atelier) we re-invented the original Frans Masereel artwork on display there, appropriating it to our own lives and experiences.
The project was a fantastic display of community, solidarity and unity. Along the lines of Masereel's legacy, I viewed this collaborative project as an act of anarchistic pacifism, an unadulterated act of hope. In these tiring times, where it is so easy to find reasons to hate someone, to blame them, to envy them, ... it is these acts of hope and solidarity that represent true resistance.

A Round of Applause (edition Anvers) is een interactieve audio kunstwerk waarbij we als Antwerpenaren het alledaagse van onze buren en medeburgers gaan verstoren en opfleuren.
De bedoeling is om op meerdere openbare plekken een sensor te programmeren die bij activatie een klein orkest van gejuich zal toedienen aan passanten. Het gejuich zal komen van andere mensen die in't stad wonen, met alle glorie van de 170+ eigen talen en dialecten die we in Antwerpen spreken.
Bij deze zou ik jullie graag willen uitnodigen om op 25 of 26 augustus langs te komen bij de TRIX om Uw beste gejuich op te nemen! Iedereen is welkom, en gelieve dit te delen met zoveel mogelijk mensen die ook in Antwerpen wonen. De bedoeling is om minstens 100 verschillende tracks te verzamelen, zodat iedereen die het kunstwerk activeert een unieke ervaring van gejuich zal beleven. Ik voorzie, behalve de gezelligheid, een drankje en een knabbeltje.

The Key series represent various types of media that shaped my childhood and young adulthood When I start working in them, I like to approach a new entry very methodically.
I find a digital image to use as a background, draw the films for the top print layers (to be printed on plexi) and make a vector drawing which I screen print as a wallpaper to collage with. The images have a personal significance to me, and tell a story within the story.
I'll be assembling and printing all the final layers in the next two days.
