We had the honour of sponsoring the @millbrook_rspca Dog Show 🐶🏆 this weekend. It was a great day and for such a good cause. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a genetic connective tissue disorder. This means that I’ve always had it, even though I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 35 and it will always be a part of what makes me, me. For most people with EDS and HSD, chronic pain is a common symptom. The word chronic is often misused to describe something that is very bad (‘I have a chronic toothache’) as opposed to it’s correct meaning which is something that continues so has no end. For me, pain is a constant and the type of pain and location of the pain varies. So even when I’m smiling and having fun or at work or enjoying a coffee with a friend, I’m in pain. You never get used to constant pain but you do learn to live with it. My tolerance of it also varies depending on it’s severity and my mood. There are many things that help me cope, the support of my friends and family, cuddles from my dog, hot water bottles, to name a few. What questions would you love to ask me about living with EDS? Here are a couple of ways to handle kerbs in the UK: first, the standard height by moving one wheel at a time, and then tackle the slightly smaller kerbs using the bump and roll technique.
