ABOUT THIS YEARāS THEME: On September 25, 2025, New Afrikan Revolutionary Assata Olugbala Shakur made her transition to the ancestors in Havana, Cuba. For the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement Grassroots Liberation Schoolās (
@mxgmnational ) 2nd Annual Black Studies Summer School we seek to honor the legacy of our dear comrade. Published in 1987, her autobiography āAssataā, has been globally studied from Movement to the Black Studies classroom. As we consider the critical lessons learned from this text and her revolutionary life, it is our desire to pedagogically engage the masses in an attempt continue the fight toward the liberation of New Afrikan and Black people.
