The week we interviewed her, DAMIANA (@damiana.rec ) had just announced she was retiring her artist name mx.pinky and starting a new chapter. The new name comes from a psychoactive, sensual herb—and that, she says, is exactly the feeling she wants to create on a dance floor. DAMIANA is a queer and trans DJ, producer, and party organiser, now based in Lisbon after more than twelve years in Berlin. She is the founder of exude records (@exude_records ), one of the only T4T music labels in the world, which has raised over fifteen thousand euros in mutual aid for trans people in need. „The loading screen is done. DAMIANA feels like a new life. I’m ready to show listeners who I am now.“ In this interview, she talks about the name change, her sound, building exude records, and what inspires her now. Her productions draw from a mesmerising blend of DIY-pop, trap, rap, no wave & experimental electronics. @dingy_dysu is the masked alter-ego of Daisuke Imamura, the eerie producer spawned from Berlin’s underground hip-hop scene, casting sonic rituals steeped in distorted basslines, ghostly glitches and industrial dread. Producer & multi-instrumentalist @jana.wav joins from Cairo to play after the live sets, delivering a heady mix of hip-hop, deconstructed club, and bass-forwards sounds. Dancer & multi-disciplinary artist @phoenixchasem returns to Dwam after nearly a year since her last performance. A long-time friend of Dwam, the vinyl selectress & @exude_records label head, @damiana.rec , joins from Portugal with her multi-genre concoctions, going b2b with Dwam founder @miri__malek for the opening hours.
