I'm a sap so unfortunately, you're gonna get a slightly sappy post about my drag journey because it has been A YEAR since I started drag, a year since Mx.Peri.Mint was born!
I am morally obligated to mention that strictly speaking my drag king journey started in 2023 when I discovered drag kings were... a thing (you'll never be able to guess who the first drag king I saw was 😉) but I don't have any surviving videos from that night.
What I do have is photos of the next year when I told A Certain Someone at Fife Pride, "that looks so fun," and they, knowing nothing about what was to come, told me just to do it.
And then so did every drag king I met after that for a year with varying levels of polite to insistent encouragement (all welcomed!)
And then I did, last year. I got on stage, stripped down to a pair of red glittery shorts and the rest is history.
I honestly could not have imagined where I would be one year later. I wouldn't be able to begin to tell myself about the friends I'd make, the shows I'd see, the things I'd learn, how the stage would feel like home again. And my God, I would not have believed myself if I said I'd be willing to enter a competition! (Hah, imagine if I tried to tell my past self who the host was and the judges were?! I'd have laughed myself out of town!)
Drag has been such a wonderful, kind, welcoming return to being on stage, to performing, to getting to be the over the top drama queen I love to be. I am so incredibly happy I did this, I am so lucky that I get to do this. Here's to, hopefully, much more to come🤞🖤🤍

Now, where to begin talking about the magical experience that was the Slay Off! Truly, this was an incredible experience from start to finish.
Our fabulous show director, @alistairstewart1993 is a star which made this just the best show!
Everyone was so kind, we really were ‘rivals, not enemies.’ We rehearsed together, cheered for each other and shared the joy of the well-deserved winners, @musicofdavidleon@annamusic_1 and @die_and_niceness !
I had the time of my life performing a new routine, being dramatic, fabulous and a little bit… Mean ;)
I cannot wait for Fife Pride this year, it's gonna be a good one!
Really though, all of my thoughts + feelings can be roughly summarised by me getting a wee bit emosh in the dressing room after my performance 🙌
Thank you again to our host, our judges, the crew behind the scenes and to the audience (who seemed to be made up by a third of my lot😂, y'all know who you are, thank you🖤)

So here in Fife we have the beautiful theatrical drag king Mx Peri Mint from Kirkcaldy. We have the sultry burlesque performer Scarlet Carson from Dunfermline. We have me, Himish Macbeth, I'm from somewhere in the middle. And from outside of Fife we have Ewan McPherson, who is coming through from Glasgow. Ewan is a comedian and filmmaker. He made a film abouthis stand-up has been shown at film festivals all across the world. You now get to come and see that stand-up live! And lastly we have Mr Brake Down who is coming up from down south. He is an award-winning drag king who has had multiple five-star reviews at the Fringe and we're very lucky that he's up here visiting and able to come and be queer in Fife with all of us!
