A cool evening of very cool jazz with Elijah Snyder, Myles Wilson, Adam Hallacher + Millheim's own Huck Tritsch!! Sat Jan 3 @ 7:30p Tickets @ elkcreekcafe.com Featuring modern renditions of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, as well as original jazz compositions and well-loved standards. Very cool! Saxophonist Elijah Snyder presents the premiere of his reimagination of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This collision of worlds is sure to delight jazz and musical theatre fans alike! Snyder is a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist from State College. Steeped in the music of legends like Kenny Garrett, Miguel Zenon, Prince, and Ahmad Jamal, Elijah plays with a joyful intensity that lights up the room. Millheim’s Huck Tritsch is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist from who got his start playing classical violin and traditional old-time fiddle music, but picked up drums soon after, and discovered a passion for jazz. Huck was selected for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Jazz Festival, and was recognized as a two-time winner of the prestigious YoungArts National Competition in jazz percussion. Myles Wilson is a jazz bassist based in Philadelphia. He previously attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts, where he majored in jazz and gained experience playing bass in ensembles of various sizes. As a member of the school’s top jazz big band he was awarded multiple downbeat awards. Adam Hallacher has been an active trumpeter of Central PA’s jazz scene for several years, performing with groups such as The Brass Rats, Zero Point Big Band, and the Adam Hallacher Septet. He currently studies Audio Engineering at the University of Miami.

MKII: I’m going to be playing Ornette Coleman tunes with three great friends and musicians on June 1st at the Holy Trinity church. Joining us will be @andrew_gioannetti ‘s amazing group Resilient Generation; all proceeds from the show will go to charity. We’re raising funds for Nationalities Service Center, which helps 5,000 immigrants and refugees in the greater Philadelphia area each year. The organization recently had their funding cut by the federal government and they’re in need of your support. Suggested donation is $20 or $15 dollars w/ a student ID. Be there or be square.
