Whilst punching the holes for ‘Concerning the Work’, our first full length #letterpress printed fine press book at @thinicepress , I thought to myself how pleasing the position and typeface choice for the subheadings is: plenty of contrast between the Gill Sans Bold and Joanna, and the line spacing above and below the heading is calculated so that the lines of text in the rest of the column fall back into alignment with the lines of adjacent column.

My print for the #2020printexchange. I designed and printed a 9 dot alphabet a few years ago and always wanted to print something using it. Some of the letters are a bit dubious but on the whole I think it works well enough.

I’ve been printing with my dot screen wood type. Due to only having 12 of each dot size, this large number has to be printed in 4 passes — risky because of registration and consistent inking but I think I’ve got away with it. Two passes to go. I had to print it on one of the larger presses at @thinicepress as my SP-15 was too small. Paper: 135gsm Vermillion Colorplan from @gfsmithpapers . Ink: Strong opaque white from @hawthorn_printmaker . Type cut by @typehighdesign .
