Only a few more days until we take over @thehavencellardyke again.
These three friends have been busy preparing for the event.
Murid, who is an amazing chef and poet, will be steering the ship with his delicious Afghan menu; Sam from @montrose.edinburgh will be bringing the goods with some incredible wine; and Cosmo, recently back from @restaurantkadeau in Copenhagen, will be assisting in the kitchen.
We can’t wait to be back hosting this talented trio.
A night of feasting and friends. See you in Fife.

Spread is a budding event and magazine project bringing people together around food, culture, and stories. Nights around the table are at the heart of what inspires us.
For this second dinner event Murid Laly is coming to @thehavencellardyke to share his Afghan Feast! Murid is a chef and writer based in Edinburgh. His Afghan Feasts bring the food of his upbringing into a contemporary Scottish context; Murid’s takes on classic Afghan dishes, in step with Scottish seasonality, are inauthentic and cooked to bring joy.
Murid’s traveling with friends! Chef Cosmo Hamilton will be with Murid behind the stove on the night. And we’re extremely lucky to have Sam McFarlane Alexander, from Montrose wine bar, who will be pairing delicious wine by the bottle and glass for the evening.
Murid’s feast will be warming, rich, and, above all, abundant. Shake off the deep winter hibernation and join us at The Haven Pub in Cellardyke on Monday, February 16th. The table is spread, and everyone is welcome.

A magical week earlier this month at @capaliacilento with @lorenzorangoni and family helping, or trying, at least, with the annual olive harvest. While the season hadn’t been the best, there was plenty still to comb, shake, sort and, eventually, take to the mill. Early mornings, where cold airs would surrender to the sun peeking over the mountain and the compressor’s whirring would get the day going, became arduous days that would call San Gennaro’s tears into question. But, the omen came good by evening time — a day of honest work bottled and sat on the dinner table, sat before the sun setting across the Tyrrhenian sea. There’s something to be said for eating your work. “And, this year, San Gennaro did cry! We can live happily,” so nonna let us know.
Someday, hopefully, I’ll write about this properly and you can meet, in a small way, the wonderful people with whom I had the fortune of sharing a hillside and shaking trees.
A sunny trip across Euskadi a couple weeks ago. I don’t think I’d ever eaten so many delicious things in such a short time; all the better for the company.
my vest and I in nyc & a short trip to connecticut! once again made wonderful by wonderful people showing me wonderful things and telling wonderful stories.
non-chronological pick & mix, a week in a Floridian suburb seeing my wonderful aunt & uncle & cousins; and savannah, georgia with those met along the way. So many wonderful people (not pictured) along the way x
