I’ve been thinking a lot about why I started this…
It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face on here and a lot has changed.
Hi, I’m Crystal. I turn 32 this spring.
I’m an art director with a background in advertising, but MUR LEN is my full-time job now, which still feels a little surreal to say.
I started buying gold for myself because spending money on ✨things✨ used to make me uncomfortable. But then I learned about gold and it’s just… different. I could wear it, keep it, sell it if I needed to. It felt safe.
(I still have my first “big” piece — a 10k omega chain. I’ll have it forever.)
Something shifted after that. I started to feel unstoppable. My relationship with money completely changed. Over time I got obsessed. The trade, the history, the feeling of it.
I started to feel burnout in my career too soon. I was tired of big-brand consumerism, tired of selling it, and needed somewhere to put that energy off screen and into my hands.
So I started MUR LEN in 2019. Mostly as a place to play. To try weird things. To see if selling could feel like art. (It’s doesn’t yet but I persist)
I put jewelry in jello. Froze a 14k necklace in ice cubes and made a chain. Photographed pieces being drowned in champagne.
Just trying things.
The idea was always: art comes first, selling comes second.
It’s still an experiment. It hasn’t become passive or self-sustaining.. and It’s really hard to do this alone. I’m still figuring out where art fits into all of it.
And the internet is strange. It’s hard to build something real in a place where everything feels so fake to the point where we can’t even tell the different.
So I’ve been trying to move things offline. Dinners, printed things, objects you can hold. Because gold is real. It has weight, memory and substance that deserves to be shared and experienced.
Eventually I don’t want this to be about me at all. (if I had it my way I would never post my face again.) I want MUR LEN to stand on its own. Something sustainable, something that can take care of people.
But for now it’s still, very much, just me.

I’ve been a little obsessed with function lately. Hinges, clasps, weight, movement. How something opens. How it rests. These small, thoughtful details determine whether something moves with you or against you.
Beauty is beauty. But beauty with function has purpose. Each has its place, but I believe beauty can serve the body and the space it takes up. We should enjoy beautiful things all the time, not just special occasions. It can be functional. It can be accessible. Everyone deserves that.
