Henry Sylvester Williams, a Trinidadian lawyer, organized the first Pan African Conference in London in 1900 and coined the term “Pan Africanism”. This conference aimed at bringing together people of African origin from across the world to discuss their shared struggles under colonialism, racism, and oppression and to chart a collective way forward.
The father of modern Pan-Africanism, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, took the entire movement from the conference auditoriums to the street and made it more practical political action. He believed in a United States of Africa, one continental government, one army, one economy and made the it not just a philosophy, but a political program for African liberation.
African unity cannot be successful without our cultural identity and heritage integration. Our beautiful culture and history, which entails our African lifestyle, language, food, clothing, etc. Our beautiful garment especially, African prints are carefully designed and woven with African symbols with historical significance, a part of our identity. African prints, often called Ankara, Adire, Kitenge, or African wax prints, are vibrant, colorful fabrics with bold patterns that carry deep cultural significance across the continent.
At Muftyy Afrocentric, we call ourselves the Pan-African brand, our fashion connects the black race worldwide, with a unique identity and a united common goal (Pan-Africanism). We use our beautiful African prints to design unique unisex shirts. Our shirts represent African identity with a global tongue, right from the Salaga Slave market to the Elmina Castle, Accra to Lagos, Ethiopia to Dakar, Johannesburg to Georgia, Rio de Jánairo to Kinston and Port au Prince.
We are excited to announce the release date of our upcoming new collection called “the Pan-African collection” on 21st September, 2025 to honor the poster boy of Pan-Africanism, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah’s 116th birthday.

One of the key objective of the rebranded Muftyy Afrocentric (the PanAfricanbrand) clothing line is partnering with contemporary African visual artist, who single-handedly and creatively tell the original African story through their wonderful artworks.
One of these brilliant artists is Edward Ofosu, a London based self-taught Ghanaian visual artist. He’s first solo exhibition “Rythm of the soul” at the @lafa_foundation gallery studio was a sucess.
The Muftyy Afrocentric brand is collaborating with these individuals considering our common interests in projecting African culture and heritage globally. The beautiful African symbols like the famous “adinkra” symbols and many others across our continent are embodiment of our beliefs and norms and they were thoughtfully created by these creative individuals. And our beautiful and timeless African prints/ankara are beautifully woven, stitched or printed with these traditional patterns or symbols.
