Bʀᴜsʜᴇs ᴏꜰ Sᴛʀᴇɴɢᴛʜ
On 23 May from 6 PM to 10 PM, LAFA in collaboration with Dorothy’s Hope Foundation invites you to an evening where art becomes a force for care, hope and impact.
Marigold Akufo-Addo, a pioneering female artist and one of the first of her generation in Ghana, has donated a work for this cause. Nana Danso Awuah-Asante, a young contemporary artist whose work has been exhibited at LAFA and is steadily gaining international recognition breaking new ground beyond Ghana has also contributed a piece originally acquired by a collector and later donated back to the foundation, which will be presented at auction.
Artworks by breast cancer patients and survivors will also be auctioned, offering deeply personal expressions of strength, resilience and healing.
Proceeds from the auction will support LAFA’s healing through art programmes for neurodivergent individuals, women in recovery and children in our local community, this will advance Dorothy’s Hope Foundation’s work with women and children affected by cancer including the Screening Container Project, an initiative designed to bring accessible cancer detection services to communities most in need.
Each piece has a past. Every bid shapes its future.
Come for the art. Stay for the connection.

A LIVING EXHIBITION
The Walls That Breathe
In Constant Conversation
At LAFA, we are rethinking what an exhibition can be.
This is not a fixed moment in time. It is an evolving curatorial practice one where new artists and works enter continuously and the dialogue expands, shifts, deepens.
Part of the space remains in constant conversation. Part spotlights individual artists through focused features and moments of quiet emphasis.
One that invites you to return to encounter something new each time. To experience art not as a singular event, but as a continuous exchange.
THE WALLS DO NOT REST THEY ARE ALWAYS HERE

Before The Language and Image of Us came to a close, we had the pleasure of welcoming Home School Junior High for an inspiring visit, an engaging moment of curiosity and connection with the works on view.

Our space was filled with small hands and big imaginations.
Children from our community joined us for a clay session, shaping and bringing their ideas to life one piece at a time.
Moments like these remind us that creativity lives in everyone and when nurtured early it becomes a powerful language of expression.
Special thanks to Zahra Faye the curator, whose natural connection with children makes each experience even more meaningful.

“Creative expression remains one of the most powerful means through which people articulate who they are.”
We are proud to be in dialogue with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Ghana, whose support recognises art as a force for cultural preservation, social cohesion and inclusive growth.
The Language & Image of Us continues this shared commitment.

The Language & Image of Us a collective exploration of identity, voice and visual expression.
“This exhibition looks at how artists are reworking the tools that were used to distort them.”
Painting, sculpture, textile, installation and mixed media converge in a collective exploration of identity, representation and intent.
