My story of Post Lake Perris Triathlon via pictures
1 - I finished! Didn't drown or get hurt 🥳
2 - Where are my results?? It took like 12 hours to find out the results 😡
3 - Tired of waiting for results, opted for brunch with bottomless mimosas 🤠
However, after I finally got my results, I'm happy to report
I got 6th overall and 1st in my Age Group.🏁
Which means...I have successfully defended my AG win from last year. Guess I need to race Lake Perris next year to defend my first place title once again 🤷♂️
See ya there!!
OC Half in 2 weeks!!!
It's been 1 week since Cozumel 70.3 and I think it'd taken me a week to process the race.
Quick recap:
🏊♂️Swim: My first open ocean swim. It was scary, it was crystal clear it had no favorable current. It was one of my hardest swims but also my favorite swim??? Like there were dolphins at the start of the swim!!!! 45:37 to finish the swim.
🚴♂️Bike: I kept it conservative under coach's guidance because of the extreme heat and humidity. It would have been close to my best bike split bit 32 miles in, I got a flat tire.. womp, womp, womppppp. I tried to make up time but knew I couldn't so I stuck to the plan. 2:55 to finish the bike.
🏃♂️Run: THE HARDEST HALF MARATHON EVER. The heat is no joke. I walked every aid station to basically drench myself in ice and water. My shoes were water logged. My soul was water logged. I couldn't keep a good pace because I would begin to overheat. It was brutal. 1:58 to finish the half marathon.
🏁Total time: 5:48 for cozumel 70.3!
Would definitely do this race again!!!
Special thanks to @oc.endurance@3ptriteam for surrounding me with triathletes who push me to be better.
A HUGE Thank you to the multitude of family members who flew to support me in person at my race. I got all emotional and shit when I saw them for the first time during the run. Don't tell them though LOLLLL
Thank you to
@chasing___excellence for being in cozumel for me, pushing me to swim and run and driving me around the island!!
And thank you to @jennacaer for coaching for me for the last 8 weeks to get through cozumel!!
Within the first 2 miles of the run, my legs, feet, and confidence was hurting. I wanted to quit. I didn't think I'd finish.
I walked a lot of the course. Found comfort in other triathletes telling me I could do this.
And with less than 1 mile to go, hearing familiar voices cheering me on was all I need to get to that finish line strong.
I couldn't believe I survived that grueling run as I turned the corner and saw the finish line feet away from me!
So, as I enjoy my little off season which is about less volume and staying active because it's about consistency, I'm going to focus on injury prevention so be better equipped for my next 70.3!! See you there!!
Spent the last 2 weekends in the mountains. Once on bike and once on foot! Lots of elevation gain, lots of pain.
Should go back next weekend to the mountains again 🤔
The last time I ran a marathon was in 2021 (see pic 2) at the Surf City Marathon, and little did I know the direction my legs were heading at that time.
The San Diego R&R Marathon had wayyy more hills, and with a lot of digging deep moments, I got a new personal best!
My watch does has my distance at 26.55 and the course time is~ 3:32, but my watch says my Marathon PR is now 3:29. So, can I claim a sub 3:30???? 🤷♂️
but anyways, thank you to everyone who pushed me during my training and had more faith in me than I had in myself. I thought of everyone during the moments I was fading!
The journey to race day is far superior to race day for me. It's the memories made with people that matter the most to me!
Onto the next goal... a new Half marathon PR 😤
Hey, been training to run a marathon.
26.2miles/42km to be done this Sunday.
Hope it goes well! 🤷♂️
Thanks @sujenkrystina for capturing the post track moment! 😊
Happy Groundhog's Day!!! Woke up, saw that Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators and Weather Prophet Extraordinary has predicted 6 more weeks of winter.
Oh, and I ran the Surf City Half Marathon. 13.1 miles in 1:38! Better thanI expected tbh. Now it's nap time! Or food time or both.
Climbing with @rcc_picante_ride this morning. The Olinda climb to the tank is tough. 47 miles 4000ft of climbing AKA 75km 1225m of climbing!
Legs hurt, but the spirit is high!!
Starting 2025 with the @oc.endurance crew and a nice iced Americano.
46 miles later, im glad I start the year with other highly crazy individuals. Lets ride bikes, run, swim AND do some bouldering in 2025 🤠
IWLQ 70.3 2024! SO GLAD ITS THE OFF SEASON NOW🎉
Thank you to everyone who cheered me on! Virtually and in person. It's really amazing to have so many supportive friends!
And a special thank you to my coach @antoniovillardaga
Who has worked with me all 2024. Through injuries and traveling and work! Thank you for your time!
Swim (44min)
Was a fight fest 😤 and I drank way too much lake water. Which I paid the price for throughout the race. I thought the water temp was fine. The water was hella choppy, but I did it.
Bike (2:44)
Surprisingly good. But around mile 30, I had to pee. The next aid station was 15 miles away, and the discomfort absolutely slowed me down. I ended up stopping and lost 2 minutes. Womp.
Run (1:51)
Stomach pain galore. Went to the bathroom 2 times!! I couldn't get my rhythm down because of my stomach. But I just ran through it and did okay!
Total time 5:30:32
This is a 16-minute PR on this course! Will I return? We will see... racing in December is rough, haha
It's time! Everything has been dropped off, the carbs have been eaten and tomorrow we see what the body can do!
See picture 2 to see how im actually feeling!
