Last May 16, @adarnahouse filled Mt Cloud Bookshop with laughter and learning with the Baguio launch of 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘺 𝘋𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘭, written by Christine Bellen-Ang and illustrated by Alyssa Babasa! 📚✨
The event featured a lively reading from the book alongside a thoughtful conversation about Christine and Alyssa’s creative processes in bringing the book to life. Together, they present an honest portrayal of what it is like to be a child—capturing the unfiltered, imaginative, and often surprising ways children think and see the world.
By writing stories that embrace the truths we don’t always talk about, 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘺 𝘋𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘭 bridges an important gap in children's literature. It reminds us to listen closely to children’s intelligence and voices, and to continue making room for them in our shared world.

Through Kapwa, “I am one with humanity, and I am connected with creation. I experience myself as a part of the world and acknowledge that life-space on earth is but one for all.” —Katrin de Guia (2025)
Last May 14, the Mt Cloud Bookshop garden was bustling with community as we gathered to celebrate the life and work of Katrin de Guia with the launch of the 20th Anniversary Edition of her book, Kapwa: The Self in the Other - Worldviews and Lifestyles of Filipino Culture-Bearers.
The evening featured reflections on the depth and brilliance of Katrin de Guia and her work by Frank Cimatu, Karina Bolasco, and Lissa de Guia, along with a moving performance by Katrin’s husband and National Artist of the Philippines, Kidlat Tahimik.
Every moment reflected the spirit of connection and the shared self. Here are highlights from the event ✨️
Join us for 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰, a casually moderated conversation on a commonly known idea but maybe not explored enough—on how movement can be medicine.
Mt Cloud hosts the last wave launch of @winningstillthebook with a small merienda learning session with @projectsteadyasia 's lead Trauma Therapist @gangmanila .
𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰 is a mental health learning session that also offers the last 20 copies of the book essays of the Covid lockdown. 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 is about athletes and coaches forced to stop moving by a global virus threat, and all their best practices for managing their mental health in the absence of athletic motion. The book was launched in Jun 2021 — a month before the Philippines got its first OLYMPIC GOLD through @hidilyndiaz — Hidilyn Diaz is one of the published essayists in this book and is a Board Member of Project: Steady Asia.

𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚: 𝐀 𝐆𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚 (2025) is a documentation of indigenous practices and traditions of health, wellness, and healing in the Cordillera region. The book highlights how a person’s well-being is deeply interconnected with their community and the more-than-human world — including ancestors, spirits, and unseen forces that offer guidance and protection. By recognizing and nurturing these relationships, indigenous healing practices seek to restore balance within the environment, address illness, and sustain wholeness in our bodies and spirits.

In 1970, a group of women staged a protest at the Miss Universe beauty pageant to denounce the objectification and commodification of women. More than five decades later, Pauline Mari Hernando’s 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚: 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧 (𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐁𝐀𝐊𝐀), 𝟏𝟗𝟕𝟎-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 traces the formation, evolution, and struggle of these women members of a radical women’s organization.
A finalist for the 2025 National Book Awards for History, Ang Rebolusyonarya sheds light on the lives and contributions of Filipino women revolutionaries. It foregrounds the writing of women in the context of their political roles against the backdrop of a patriarchal historiography. By presenting the stories, victories, and continuing struggles of the women of MAKIBAKA, the book carries forward the organization’s enduring spirit for national democracy and resistance against gender oppression.
