I’m in New Orleans working on Dialogues of the Carmelites with @ceschi_and_lane for @neworleansopera … things I’ve seen that have been inspiring so far in the city…
1. Dark architecture & decorated buildings 2. The Ursuline convent museum where we are working. 3. Tale of two cities- houses that look like the chattel houses in Barbados when I was a kid 4. To houses that look like they are from a different era. 5. Fiber art by Mark Grote @arthurrogergallery 6. Trees in the garden district
Thank you Cologne & IFTR for such a fulfilling week - filling brain & enriching me for doing what I do…. Finally getting round to posting about it… was a treat to share the working process & research on The Picnic with the amazing choreographer @evarecacha . We had such an amazing Scenography working group and was a treat to hear the richness of all the papers - thank you @scenographyiftr and @cssdlondon for funding me…. Will get round to posting images from the actual performance shortly….

Choosing the line of least resistance and celebrating the sun. Winter’s harshness interrupted with suns warmth. It’s all feeling so desperate atm in the world but yesterday’s warmth was a good reminder that time is circular and we are still going round, better days will come and the summer is round the corner….

Opened last night to a sold out performance, it’s also sold out tonight! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

It’s a proper energy filled performance that twists & turns constantly, I might also be biased! It was inspired by Bosch’s Garden of Earthly delights and we aimed to create a space of radical joy in opposition to a dystopia future, a conscious act of defiance….
You might even get to take the oranges home after Fridays show 🍊🍊🍊💕🍊🍊🍊
