It still hasn’t hit me, if you’re wondering.
This all started back in 2021. (We lost a lot of time to the pandemic and a legal issue not involving us.) My brother @lofat wanted to see a @sneakernews x BAPE collab. They asked for some inspiration to get things going and came back with designs inspired by legendary colorways.
I enlisted @krxone (first employee and OG EIC of SN, and an incredible designer), and we submitted two solid designs. The owner of I.T (owner of BAPE) felt it wasn’t special enough, so they came back with a triple-stacked STA. That got me thinking—what could make this even more special?
I kept going back to ’90s outdoor tech wear and footwear—and coming of age in the streets and schools of NYC.
A shoe for day and one for night, built around the colors and patterns of that ’90s outdoor aesthetic.
Two colorways, 30+ years in the making.
