Suffering gets a bad rap but not all suffering is bad. It’s not always immediately enjoyable, but I always come out on the other side feeling accomplished and more capable than when I went in, whether it’s backpacking or some stupid chore I’ve been putting off for a year. I’ve heard tales of Suffering With Salyer for a few years and always winced at the idea of intentionally putting myself in a situation that I’m not going to enjoy. But the truth of it is, we need to push, challenge, and make ourselves uncomfortable in order to grow. That’s the mindset I’m approaching this new year with—uncomfortable, challenging growth.
