I sat down with Office Magazine for an interview and photoshoot, and what unfolded was more than just a conversation, it was a deep dive into process, passion, and purpose. MRSTARCITY X VOGUE! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I had the chance to chat with @voguemagazine / @voguephilippines during the presentation of my exhibition “LOVERBOY” titled “One Pedal At A Time” at @artfairph . Here’s a snippet from the interview:⁣ ⁣ “Being authentic is a gift to those who are present,” he explains via an email exchange with Vogue Philippines (Writing is his preferred mode of communication). “Some people will spend so much time swimming in old energy and searching for who they used to be because they don’t have enough depth to understand and accept who [they] are now. I embrace the now.” ⁣ ⁣ Star means it literally, greeting everyone he comes across with his arms outstretched, smile wide, and a full-chested “Big bless!” The phrase is his greeting and expression of choice, informed by the root of his messaging: hope, positivity, and abundance that was once rooted in lack. His messaging isn’t something for show on social media either; rather, it is at the core of who he is, permeating his work, lifestyle, words, and actions.”⁣ ⁣ The truth is, I’m a multi-dimensional being, navigating through different phases. On certain days, I embody the warmth of the sun, while on others, I resonate with the moon. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!🌹⁣ ⁣ Before she was our mother, she was a whole person. She had dreams of her own, fears she carried quietly, a heart that had already been broken a few times, and a laugh so beautiful it could change the energy of a room. Then me and my brother arrived, and somehow her entire identity shifted from simply being herself to becoming “the mother of those two boys.” And she wore that title with pride.⁣ ⁣ People see mothers as mothers for so long that they forget they were once young women just trying to figure life out too.⁣ ⁣ I watched my mother sacrifice pieces of herself so we could become ourselves. She cried in private so we would never feel fear. She prayed in silence so we could sleep peacefully. She put down some of her own dreams and picked up ours, not because she was forced to, but because to her, we were the dream.⁣ ⁣ We lived in shelters together once. I remember uncertainty. I remember struggle. I remember watching her work endlessly while somehow still finding ways to make us feel safe, loved, and normal. Today she owns a home, and sometimes I sit back and think about how far we came together.⁣ ⁣ My mother was loving, but she was also tough. Life made her that way because she had to fight for us. She gave me the greatest gift a parent can give a child, a moral compass rooted in love, and the understanding that life, no matter how hard it becomes, is still worth embracing fully.⁣ ⁣ And what amazes me most is that even while carrying us, she carried everyone else too. There wasn’t an aunt, uncle, cousin, or friend who couldn’t come stay with us if life knocked them down. Our home became refuge for so many people. Even my friends knew if things got bad at home, my mother would make space for them too. ⁣ ⁣ As I get older, I realize more and more that some mothers are entire universes disguised as human beings. They hold families together while quietly teaching everyone around them what love truly looks like.⁣ ⁣ If you still have your mother, hug her a little tighter. One day you realize the person who spent their whole life protecting your heart was carrying the weight of the world inside of hers. Happy Mother’s Day. Big Bless. ❤️💫

HONG KONG, I WOULD ALWAYS LOVE YOU. ❤️⁣ ⁣ I told myself I’d stay a few days.⁣ Just enough time to pass through… to shake hands with the moment and keep it moving.⁣ ⁣ But Hong Kong doesn’t let you pass through.⁣ It pulls you in, quietly at first… then all at once.⁣ ⁣ One night becomes many.⁣ A dinner becomes a table of twelve.⁣ A familiar face becomes a memory reborn.⁣ And somehow, strangers start to feel like they’ve known you longer than you’ve known yourself.⁣ ⁣ I came for Art Basel…⁣ but stayed for everything you can’t hang on a wall.⁣ ⁣ For the laughter that spills past midnight.⁣ For the music that finds your body before your mind.⁣ For the kind of nights that don’t ask permission to change you.⁣ ⁣ I watched my brother @joshudoser bend reality on stage! ⁣ Cirque du Soleil energy, but deeper…⁣ the kind of performance that doesn’t just impress you, it reminds you how limitless we really are.⁣ ⁣ I wandered through neon-lit streets like they were veins,the city alive, breathing through every corner… and somewhere in between it all, ⁣ I fell in love. Again.⁣ ⁣ Not the kind you take home.⁣ The kind you leave behind…⁣ and somehow, it still leaves with you.⁣ Thank you @carbonehongkong for holding us down, for turning a table for three into a celebration for twelve without hesitation.⁣ ⁣ Thank you to every sunset that stretched across the water like God was painting just for us.⁣ To every meal that felt like more than food,⁣ like something uplifting you.⁣ ⁣ To every “cheers,” every hug, every shared moment… I felt it all.⁣ ⁣ Hong Kong… you don’t just inspire me,⁣ you remind me who I am when I’m fully alive.⁣ ⁣ And to whoever needs this:⁣ ⁣ You can’t receive what’s waiting for you⁣ if your hands are still holding onto what’s already gone. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!? ⁣ ⁣ Who would’ve thought…⁣ ⁣ I flew to Manila for the art fairs, just grateful to be in the room. And on the very last day, right before my departure, my good brother @timtan823 asked, “Do you want to see the home of one of your biggest collectors, @freduysipuo ?”⁣ ⁣ Of course I said yes.⁣ ⁣ We met for lunch at @carlos.philippines in BGC. Conversation, laughter, stories. Then we drove to his home.⁣ ⁣ I walked in… and froze.⁣ ⁣ Not one.⁣ Not two.⁣ But six of my paintings living on his walls.⁣ ⁣ Six.⁣ ⁣ Each one thoughtfully placed. Breathing inside his architecture. Speaking to each other across rooms. I stood there quietly, taking it in. Years of work. Years of doubt. Years of showing up when no one was watching.⁣ ⁣ And then he smiled and said, “Actually… I have seven. I gifted one of your fabric paintings to my mother.”⁣ ⁣ That piece now lives in her home, featured in @bluprintmag , interior designed by the incredible @gracereyesdesigns , who described the space as a “marriage of modern and design.”⁣ ⁣ When I first picked up a brush, I dreamt of days like this. I dreamt that my work would travel farther than I could. That it would hang in rooms filled with love, intention, and legacy.⁣ ⁣ I tell you no lie… in that moment, I didn’t want to wake up.⁣ ⁣ To every artist reading this:⁣ There will be days when it feels slow. When it feels unseen. When it feels impossible. Keep going anyway. Create when no one claps. Build when no one believes. Trust the quiet seasons.⁣ ⁣ Because one day you will walk into a room and see your dream already living on the walls.⁣ Never give up on what calls you. Leave fear behind. Live boldly. “King Of Hearts” Last week I pulled up to the basketball court unveiling at Lennox Academy in Canarsie, and the energy was crazy. Kids were smiling, dancing, hooping, taking photos… just pure joy everywhere. Seeing their reactions and watching them talk about the artwork was amazing. S/o to Principal Patrick Berry, Paul Thompson, Mark Corallo, Superintendent Celeste Douglas, and the entire Lennox Academy staff for putting on a great show. Huge shout out to @MrstarCity seeing the way you interacted with all the staff and students was really inspiring. It’s nothing like seeing someone that looks like you and come from where you come do dope things. “THE ROYAL COURT” IT WAS ALL A DREAM!⁣ ⁣ Those words from the late, great King of Brooklyn, Notorious B.I.G, still echo through the borough and through me.⁣ ⁣ All my life as an artist, I’ve carried one prayer in my heart: to give back to the place that raised me. This summer, that prayer found its form. I had the honor of designing and painting “The Royal Court: LoverBoy — King of Hearts, 2025” alongside the incredible team at @project_backboard for the Lennox Academy in Canarsie, Brooklyn.⁣ LoverBoy was created as a symbol, the giver of love to all who play on this court. That’s why I crowned him the King of Hearts. I also included the school’s sly fox mascot, not as a rival, but as a reminder: you don’t have to steal love or recognition when you’re surrounded by it. The King of Hearts will give it freely.⁣ ⁣ Once the court was completed, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lennox Academy where I had the chance to meet and speak with the students. Their joy was contagious, they were genuinely grateful and proud of what we created together. Seeing how much the new court meant to them reminded me why this kind of work matters: it’s about beauty, yes, but even more about belonging, pride, and possibility. ⁣ ⁣ Watching their excitement and pride made me deeply grateful to be from Brooklyn, to see this next generation so alive, so driven, and so committed to greatness both in the classroom and on the court.⁣ ⁣ Deep gratitude to the Principal of the Lennox Academy Patrick Berry, Paul Thompson, Mark Corallo, Superintendent Celeste Douglas, and the entire @project_backboard family — @milesryn , @ralph_sunga21 , @jzzam_peterson , @coachhawkinsumes , @spirit_of_hoops and @madbasic thank you for your vision, love, and support. ⁣ ⁣ Never doubt that your dreams can become real. WELCOME TO MY WORLD—MY STUDIO.⁣ ⁣ This space has always been more than just four walls and canvases. It’s a living, breathing reflection of my imagination. A dream I once whispered to myself: to have a place where I could create freely, without limits, guided only by heart and hand. So to open it up and share it with those who genuinely want to know me, not just the finished art, but the spirit behind it, that means everything.⁣ ⁣ Big love to @uncovermore for stopping by and bringing real curiosity and energy into the space. We talked deeply about the new directions I’m heading in, including the Mourning After series—works that speak to a mother’s first morning without her child, taken by violence or injustice. It’s a series born from grief, love, and the urgent need to make space for these stories in our cultural memory.⁣ ⁣ This work is personal. And it’s bigger than me.⁣ ⁣ To anyone who’s ever lost someone to senseless acts of gun violence, incarceration, the silence that follows, I see you. You’re not alone.
