It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of recognition and the impact it can have on young minds. For my students, being acknowledged by esteemed community leaders like @isaiahthomas4philly and @zetakathy is nothing short of priceless. It validates their efforts, inspires them to continue pursuing their passions, and reinforces the importance of positive contributions to society. 🌟💼 Sadly, events like these often fly under the radar of mainstream media, but that doesn’t diminish their significance one bit. In fact, it makes gestures of recognition from our local leaders even more meaningful. It shows that they truly care about the aspirations and achievements of our youth, and that means the world to us. 🌍❤️ #DopeTeacher #DopeStudents #Mayfair @phlyouth @isaiahthomas4philly @councilmemberkgr @theofficialosg @mayfairsdp @phillipsdist9 @councilmembermikedriscoll @the_dope_student_podcast @modernclassproj @thegbca

Meet Mike Mercado, who started as a plan runner in fire protection and worked his way up through grit and determination. From designing life-saving fire systems to collaborating across trades, his story is proof that every step counts. It’s not just about the technical skills; it’s about believing in yourself and staying committed to the process. Whether you’re just starting out or feeling stuck, remember: every expert was once a beginner. Keep pushing forward and trust the journey!

I thought this was just a Philly problem, but it’s not. This is a national issue. Too many students never get the opportunity to learn with their hands, build something real, or discover their talents. Students need more than lectures and tests… they need EXPOSURE and OPPORTUNITY. Hands-on learning can change lives. 🔥 @plumbing_perspective @philly_schools @explorethetrades

Last week my 5th graders learned how to identify the components of a framed wall using the Pitsco cutter 🪚🛠️ Students learned the purpose of the: 🔨 Top plate 🔨 Bottom plate 🔨 Studs There’s no better way to learn than by DOING. Hands-on learning helped students actually understand how things are built instead of just reading about it in a book. Hopefully next we’ll move into adding door and window openings so students can continue building their knowledge step by step. 🔥 Mayfair CTE Building confidence one project at a time.
