A bit of “…Sofferte onde serene…” by Luigi Nono from my last recital at World New Music Days. This was my first time performing it, though I’ve wanted to stick my fingers into this dough for years. Serene waves suffered. A paradox. Nono wrote it as a quiet mourning—a space where serenity and suffering coexist—, blending piano with fragments recorded (on piano) by Pollini that drift in and out like ghosts. In this performance, I found a way to grieve for the violence that keeps blooming, for myself, for others, for everyone still holding on to a shred of humanity. Nada Contra deve ser interpretado como uma resposta ousada e irreverente ao estreitamento fascista da arte e da imaginação. Cada peça aqui apresentada é o resultado de um compromisso mútuo com o atrito e a liberdade. As possibilidades sonoras inesgotáveis da percussão encontram o teclado MIDI, um instrumento sem uma identidade sonora intrínseca e fixa que, através da manipulação digital, pode transformar-se em qualquer textura imaginável, moldando os materiais auditivos e a criação de sentido. Como tal, não é uma ferramenta neutra, mas um parceiro relacional — uma realidade humanamente relevante. Aqui, a insurgência reside em afirmar a intenção, a primazia do corpo e do trabalho, e estar juntos como um coletivo contra as pressões da velocidade, da uniformidade e do consumo passivo. Kind und Ka(e)gel what a joy it was to be part of this musicking, inspired by Mauricio Kagel, with no common language being used - only an invented one. We did not only play our instruments; we played on self-made ones (crafted masterfully by @marynski1 and @joaopedrocamposcampos ): bumbasses, balloons, wooden clapper sandals, walnut castanets, alongside a constellation of other objects, small and large, spread across the stage of Schaubühne Lindenfels.
