I didn't expect to see the best show I've seen in some time, and up there with the best video based shows ever, at the
@tatestives in Cornwall. Breathtakingly good work by
@emilijaskarn exploring themes of ecological collapse, colonial conquest, and unsustainable technology expansion wrapped in anthropology, archeology and mysticism. The glass works in the final images were particularly poignant and moving for me for reasons I won't go into but IYKYK. They echo the Lithuanian myth of Jurate, a mermaid-like goddess of the sea whose father murders her human lover. When pieces of amber wash up on Baltic shores, they are called Jurate's tears.
