Excited to present my research at the BACP’s annual international research conference during the preliminary stages of its development. Central to this study is the exploration of how community knowledges across disciplines shape ideas about healing in the context of colonialism and racialisation. From a diasporic vantage point, this research privileges holistic, community-based healing for Black, African and African-Caribbean communities in Britain. #livityembodied #research #bacp

As an integrative psychotherapist undertaking research into indigenous healing, identity, and belonging for people of African and Afro-Caribbean descent, it was a full joy to be invited to attend the pre-planning consultation at London Museum Docklands. Professionals from across disciplines showed how complex social and historical issues require integrated approaches, allowing diverse forms of expertise to feed forward into the consultation process. Our journey began at St. Anne’s Church, from where we walked along the canal toward the museum. Along the way, we gathered natural materials from a path tracing the histories of communities impacted by the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved Africans. Affective experiences emerged as we moved through this landscape. At the museum, we took part in an interactive workshop using the natural materials we had collected to create cyanotypes. The process was tactile and collaborative, centring memory, community, and shared exchange. #wellbeing #mentalhealth #indigenoushealing #livityembodied #community

In a time where individuals and brands are eager to align themselves with community-focused health and wellness initiatives, often shaped for visibility through apps, trackers, and trends, something essential gets lost. Public figures are lauded over practitioners. Performance is valued over process. Social proof is favoured over sacred space. One persistent and urgent question is are you simply engaging in wellbeing activities, or are you actually well, holistically? Ask yourself instead: • Do my actions feel aligned when no one is watching? • Does my nervous system feel safer or just busier? Holistic wellbeing is often quieter. It’s central to all levels of system repair. Fewer rituals, more congruence. Less broadcasting, more embodied presence. #livityembodied #creativity #wellbeing #holistic#mentalhealth

Day 3 | Integration & Aftercare 🇨🇭 Closing the three-day residency with pre/post-show wellbeing support for dancers and audience members following a powerful Q&A exploring Blackness, gender dynamics, colourism and various cultural assimilation processes and related harm caused. Creating and performing work rooted in lived experience carries deep emotional labour. That’s why directors and producers must prioritise the holistic wellbeing of both their teams and audiences as they process what’s felt and shared. My lived experience and therapeutic training uniquely position me to hold this work with care. #psychotherapy #blackmen #healingcircles #wellbeing #creatives @livityembodied

Day 2 | PERCEPTIONS with THE COLLECTIVE | SHAPE UP AND TALK 🇨🇭💈 With roots in the performing arts and as a practising psychotherapist, I facilitate wellbeing spaces that invite Black men into collective exchange, embodied safety, and belonging. In an industry driven by performance and pressure, we reflected on what feels good enough for now and safe enough to try. After the show, I facilitated a intergenerational healing circle with KB—one of Switzerland’s first prominent Black barbers—holding space for meaningful dialogue while he freshened trims. As a result, the man dem set up a group chat with a commitment to long term accountability and support for Black men in Switzerland. This work continues to affirm that Black men do speak when safety is embodied in people, spaces, and conversations. My practice is shaped by therapeutic training and lived experience. #psychotherapy #blackmen #healingcircles #collectivecare #wellbeing livityembodied

Day 1 | PERCEPTIONS with THE COLLECTIVE 🇨🇭 Mr Livity is back in Bern to kick-start a three-day wellbeing journey for Black male creatives. Day one offered pre and post show wellbeing support for dancers and audience members engaging with a performance exploring racial trauma through the intersectional lens of the Black male lived experience. In a world that often values men by their performance, Black male performers are assessed not only on creative mastery, but on their ability to be seen as fully human. Together, we reflected on what it might mean for the dancers to reclaim play, curiosity, and joy, placing their own wellbeing at the centre, with audience perception becoming secondary. Nuff love and respect to the team ❤️💛💚 @andrealena.g @chichiedza @giftitekako @earlejr @moa.ya @cosmic_astr0_o @klimbie.p #wellbeing #psychotherapy #blackmen # healingcircles

Millennium Heights Medical Complex | Saint Lucia’s National Mental Wellness Centre (NMWC). 🇱🇨🌴 My visit to Saint Lucia’s NMWC reaffirmed my commitment to promoting ancestral and holistic approaches to healing within African and Afro-Caribbean communities. I’m keen to keep building international connections — exchanging knowledge, learning from local experts (by experience and/or profession), and expanding collective pathways to well-being that centre the needs of the community. #saintlucia #livityembodied #chooselife #wellbeing #mentalhealth
