This week our teachers participating in inquiry came together for a celebration of learning. It was amazing to see the questions posed and ideas tried to see the findings on how certain ideas impact student learning. Ideas ranged from accessible seating, impacts of flameless cooking on students, making learning intentions meaningful to students, Flex Time within a class or school, and multiple literacy initiatives to just name a couple of ideas.

Thank you to all who attended the public Open House at HPMS (May 13, 2026) and to students and staff who attended the Open House at HMS (May 14, 2026) to learn more about what Mission Public Schools heard through the recent Middle School Survey.
These sessions shared key feedback and provided an opportunity to offer additional input and perspectives as the District considers a transition from the current Middle School Model (K–6, 7–9, 10–12) to a Secondary School Model (K–7, 8–12).
All the presentation boards from the Open Houses have been uploaded into the Middle School Survey project on engage.mpsd (Have Your Say) portal for you to view at your convenience.
A virtual comment card for additional feedback has been added to the project. As the school district explores options, please tell us:
Is critical information missing?
Is there anything else that should be considered?

Moose Hide Campaign Day is taking place on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
“The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. It has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians from local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, colleges/universities, police forces and many other organizations – all committed to taking action to end this violence.
Since the Campaign began over 10 years ago along the Highway of Tears, thousands of communities and organizations across Canada have held Moose Hide Campaign events and joined the annual Moose Hide Campaign Day ceremony and fast. People of all ages, genders and backgrounds are invited to take part in Moose Hide Campaign activities.
The campaign is grounded in Indigenous ceremony and traditional ways of learning and healing. A cornerstone of the Moose Hide Campaign is the moose hide pin. Wearing the pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence. To date, over four million moose hide pins have been distributed free of charge to communities, schools, and workplaces across Canada.” – moosehidecampaign.ca Read more within the Calendar on www.mpsd.ca
💐 Mother’s Day 💐
Today, we recognize and appreciate the many people who nurture, guide, and care for children and youth in our community. This includes mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunties, foster parents, guardians, chosen family, and all those who take on a mothering role with love and dedication.
We also acknowledge that Mother’s Day can be difficult or complex for some—whether through loss, longing, strained relationships, or other personal experiences. Wherever this day finds you, please know that you are seen and supported.
From all of us at Mission Public Schools, we extend our gratitude to the caregivers and role models who help shape our learners every day. Wishing our community a gentle, meaningful day.
