Everyone has that one thing in their project. For this project, it was the tiled island.
When we talk about non-negotiables in our design process, we always pin the ideas closest to our clients’ hearts and ride them through to the end. There were many combinations, many configurations, many “almost but not quite” moments for this island. But we got there and it landed exactly where it needed to.
Now, this island will host friends, hold bowls of cereal and late night wines, and quietly watch as life unfolds around it. Every project has its heartbeat, this one just happens to take center stage ♥️

A kitchen walk through with tags. I've written quite a bit but quite a bit of thought went into it.
Do ask the question if you'd like to know where anything is from ❤️
✨A recent kitchen addition we loved bringing to life
✨Warm, handcrafted copper worktops paired with Aldana Marine cabinetry create a rich, timeless contrast..both bold and beautiful. The natural finsih of the copper will continue to evolve, making this space even more unique over time.

I do regret some things in the kitchen - maybe I’ll do a reel covering those - but the stainless steel worktop isn’t one of them.
I adore a well loved material, and a lived-in home, lots of my furniture and objects are vintage. When I read a book I fold down corners, scribble notes and underline, let it get wrinkly from the bath steam, and allow it to get bashed in my bag. That to me, is a well loved book.
No hate to perfectionists or anyone who likes things new and neat, we all live and see things differently. I spent a long time wanting to be a neat-person - which my adhd would never align with - but after acceptance, fell in love with the messiness of life and how that can look in the home 🫶🏻

A tiny kitchen with a very big personality.
Tucked into a shorefront home in the East Neuk of Fife 🏡, this compact space needed to work hard — every millimetre matters when you’re cooking between old stone walls and a sloping staircase.
Earlier this week our lovely client sent us these beautiful photos 📸 of the kitchen in use — swipe through to see how this small space comes together ✨. It’s always such a treat to see a Birkwood kitchen lived in and loved.
We designed calm, functional birch ply cabinetry 🪵 and created essential under-stairs shelving, making sure no space went to waste. The clients chose zinc worktops and splashbacks, a living material that will develop its own patina over time 🌀.
She later told us this little kitchen has become her “favourite part of the house” and that she “couldn’t be happier with what we’ve done.” 🤍
That absolutely made our week.
Welcome to our new studio…
A year ago today, I visited this site for the very first time. I knew immediately how much I wanted it, yet walked away, aware it wasn’t possible at the time. I chose a smaller unit instead - reluctantly, but realistically.
In March of this year, we opened the doors to Set Studio in a space which was less than half the size of this one. It became far more than I expected. It was where our team grew from one to five, where our clients found quiet moments to talk, to laugh, to rest, and to simply be - and where we eventually outgrew.
Then, almost as if it were meant to be, the original unit became available once again. I took it with little to no hesitation (a touch more hesitation may have been sensible - a definite note for future me) but nonetheless, here we are.
A studio built with intention. Considered in every detail, calm in atmosphere, and designed for both clients and artists alike. A place where your needs are anticipated, and all that’s left for you to do is settle in and enjoy your time with us.
I also want to note a huge thank you to my boyfriend, dad and grandad, who without complaint, take my ever so tedious requests on the chin and bring them to life with absolute perfection.
This space was curated with you in mind - please enjoy it 🤎
