Hi, this is doing up Denbigh (den-bee), and I am Emily. Weāve been here for a while but you may be new here. So here are some photos of our home post reno. We renovated a little bit in 2022, and then a lotta bits in 2023.
I graduated with a degree in interior architecture & adaptive reuse (holla at my RISD peeps), and have been working ever since. This has been the most important and challenging project in my career.
I share a lot of my emotions (ups and downs), a lot of my resources (new and old), and a lot of my design thinking. This project came at a time when I was feeling uninspired at work, and at a time when I wanted a boost of creativity in my craft.
I share a lot of scrappy stories, non polished posts, and my inner thoughts. I aim to share as much as I can freely and openly, because information should always be accessible. So, I hope youāre here cause youāre interested in how an interior architect would do her house, and also cause you love a bit of house drama. Thanks for hanging out here and I hope you enjoy it!

Pantries are having a moment and honestly, itās personal.
As someone who treats eating as a serious sport, Iāve never been happier. This one is compact, considered, and frankly the kind of space Iād lock myself in on a bad day with a bucket of chocolate and zero ragrets š¤
Weāre seeing dedicated food storage and pantries show up in almost every project right now and we are very much here for it.

Everyone has that one thing in their project. For this project, it was the tiled island.
When we talk about non-negotiables in our design process, we always pin the ideas closest to our clientsā hearts and ride them through to the end. There were many combinations, many configurations, many āalmost but not quiteā moments for this island. But we got there and it landed exactly where it needed to.
Now, this island will host friends, hold bowls of cereal and late night wines, and quietly watch as life unfolds around it. Every project has its heartbeat, this one just happens to take center stage ā„ļø

A spot to ponder.
Den stepped in to bring momentum and a healthy dose of energy on this project. When we showed up, it was clear the dreams and visions were big, and we were so excited to help bring them to reality.
During a renovation, ideas can sometimes live in the clouds āļø for a very long time. Big visions, endless screenshots, and pins on boards, but nothing tangible. We are endlessly obsessed with taking ideas in your head to turn them into actionable steps. Pushing the project forward, wrangling moving parts and bringing something that feels disjointed into real spaces.
These photos only exist because those ideas finally left the clouds, and landed somewhere you can sit on š„° This little window seat was such a joy to watch unfold, and Iām sure you guys will agree, itās a gem š
More to come š

Denās first ever client @matildadeja my bundle of joy
Sheās beauty, sheās grace, sheās hella good lookin while sheās cookin š
A lot of time, thought, and decision making lives in these photos. Kitchens are coordination central where details converge so the space doesnāt just look beautiful, but works effortlessly too.
This one is full of inset pocket doors, internal drawers, and hidden sockets to tuck away the everyday. And damn, she does it gracefully. Functional spaces can be beautiful, and beautiful things can be deeply functional. And if you know me, you know it scratches an itch when form and function collide.
P.S. I think I did pretty well at hiding our quartzite seamā¦. Please affirm me š«£

Den is for those who want a little more from the process of making a home. Not just the lines on pieces of paper, but something you experience along the way.
What you see here are glimpses of a finished project. What you donāt see are the pivotal conversations when navigating negotiations, sitting in the grey areas, and keeping momentum moving without getting distracted by the pretty things. And my god, are we in the trenches with our clients at those natural inflection points of all projects. Weāre with you the whole way.
Our people first, client obsessed approach is central to how we work. Iām incredibly proud of how that shows up in the work we deliver, the way we show up, and the guidance we give.
Feeling very proud of my team, our clients, our partners, and how far Den has come since launch. Itās been the most fulfilling and inspiring experience and Iām sooooo confident weāre only just getting started š The best is yet to come.
(Sheeeeesh Iām in my flow state š)
šø More to come once the project is professionally shot! Canāt wait to share with you all. šø

My pride and joy, the kitchen full of little delights everywhere you look. The full reveal is finally here for you āØ
Another Den project done and dusted, and one I am so dang proud of. The kind of project that makes me pause at how grateful I am to have something like this land in my lap in my career lifetime.
One that has the Den DNA inherently built in byĀ prioritizing function, but never at the expense of form. Every drawer considered. Every sightline intentional. Every material chosen to coexist with the other. With a client who trusted the process entirely (and a shared deep love for second hand treasures), this kitchen is chefās kiss in every sense of the word. Itās layered, itās warm, itās practical and it knows how to shine ššš»
If Den gets to build more homes like this, Iāll consider myself the luckiest person in the world š„¹

When I look at photos from this project, a rush of warmth and pride sets in. The trust and confidence my client had in the vision was the most crucial ingredient in this transformation.
When I see these images, I donāt just see a design, I see her. This space feels entirely personal, and thereās no better feeling than capturing someone so honestly within their own home.
Weāre storytellers through the medium of design at the end of the day š„¹ Just wait until you see the full kitchen š¤

A simple flick with worlds apart.
What a finished photo will never show are the millions of decisions, thousands of moments of coordination, hundreds of messages, and countless hours of (so many) people working together to bring something to life.
Iāve been thinking a lot about creativity lately and how I lean harder into my craft when Iām low, or when the world feels heavy. Thereās something grounding about making.
I hope we never take for granted our ability to create. It heals, it connects, and it reminds us whatās possible.
Thank you for letting me into your worlds and homes. Iām endlessly grateful to build, shape, and share these spaces with you š

Couldnāt get over the buttery yellow, so of course it had to make its way into the kitchen too š
This kitchen was a labour of love and a whole lotta coordination. One of the most satisfying spaces to build, design, and manage, kitchens really do pack a punch. Finding the sweet spot between cost, practicality, and aesthetics is always a challenge, but this one ticked every box.
