Hi, this is doing up Denbigh (den-bee), and I am Emily. We’ve been here for a while but you may be new here. So here are some photos of our home post reno. We renovated a little bit in 2022, and then a lotta bits in 2023. I graduated with a degree in interior architecture & adaptive reuse (holla at my RISD peeps), and have been working ever since. This has been the most important and challenging project in my career. I share a lot of my emotions (ups and downs), a lot of my resources (new and old), and a lot of my design thinking. This project came at a time when I was feeling uninspired at work, and at a time when I wanted a boost of creativity in my craft. I share a lot of scrappy stories, non polished posts, and my inner thoughts. I aim to share as much as I can freely and openly, because information should always be accessible. So, I hope you’re here cause you’re interested in how an interior architect would do her house, and also cause you love a bit of house drama. Thanks for hanging out here and I hope you enjoy it! #homreno #home #myhome #reno #renovation #interiordesign #kitchen #housedesign #interiorarchitecture #diy #homeinterior

Pantries are having a moment and honestly, it’s personal. As someone who treats eating as a serious sport, I’ve never been happier. This one is compact, considered, and frankly the kind of space I’d lock myself in on a bad day with a bucket of chocolate and zero ragrets šŸ¤“ We’re seeing dedicated food storage and pantries show up in almost every project right now and we are very much here for it. Everyone has that one thing in their project. For this project, it was the tiled island. When we talk about non-negotiables in our design process, we always pin the ideas closest to our clients’ hearts and ride them through to the end. There were many combinations, many configurations, many ā€œalmost but not quiteā€ moments for this island. But we got there and it landed exactly where it needed to. Now, this island will host friends, hold bowls of cereal and late night wines, and quietly watch as life unfolds around it. Every project has its heartbeat, this one just happens to take center stage ā™„ļø Photography by @kristy_noble Film and phone photography by @doingupden Styling by @studio.lundquist Architecture by @mvuu.studio Project managed by @doingupden #home #homerenovation

A spot to ponder. Den stepped in to bring momentum and a healthy dose of energy on this project. When we showed up, it was clear the dreams and visions were big, and we were so excited to help bring them to reality. During a renovation, ideas can sometimes live in the clouds ā˜ļø for a very long time. Big visions, endless screenshots, and pins on boards, but nothing tangible. We are endlessly obsessed with taking ideas in your head to turn them into actionable steps. Pushing the project forward, wrangling moving parts and bringing something that feels disjointed into real spaces. These photos only exist because those ideas finally left the clouds, and landed somewhere you can sit on 🄰 This little window seat was such a joy to watch unfold, and I’m sure you guys will agree, it’s a gem šŸ’Ž More to come šŸ‘€ Photography some by @kristy_noble some by @doingupden Styling by @studio.lundquist Architecture by @mvuu.studio Project managed by @doingupden Den’s first ever client @matildadeja my bundle of joy

She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’s hella good lookin while she’s cookin šŸ˜Ž A lot of time, thought, and decision making lives in these photos. Kitchens are coordination central where details converge so the space doesn’t just look beautiful, but works effortlessly too. This one is full of inset pocket doors, internal drawers, and hidden sockets to tuck away the everyday. And damn, she does it gracefully. Functional spaces can be beautiful, and beautiful things can be deeply functional. And if you know me, you know it scratches an itch when form and function collide. P.S. I think I did pretty well at hiding our quartzite seam…. Please affirm me 🫣 Film photos and photos by @doingupden Design and managed by @doingupden #home #homerenovation

Den is for those who want a little more from the process of making a home. Not just the lines on pieces of paper, but something you experience along the way. What you see here are glimpses of a finished project. What you don’t see are the pivotal conversations when navigating negotiations, sitting in the grey areas, and keeping momentum moving without getting distracted by the pretty things. And my god, are we in the trenches with our clients at those natural inflection points of all projects. We’re with you the whole way. Our people first, client obsessed approach is central to how we work. I’m incredibly proud of how that shows up in the work we deliver, the way we show up, and the guidance we give. Feeling very proud of my team, our clients, our partners, and how far Den has come since launch. It’s been the most fulfilling and inspiring experience and I’m sooooo confident we’re only just getting started šŸ‘€ The best is yet to come. (Sheeeeesh I’m in my flow state šŸ˜Ž) šŸ“ø More to come once the project is professionally shot! Can’t wait to share with you all. šŸ“ø Project designed and managed by @doingupden #home #homerenovation

My pride and joy, the kitchen full of little delights everywhere you look. The full reveal is finally here for you ✨ Another Den project done and dusted, and one I am so dang proud of. The kind of project that makes me pause at how grateful I am to have something like this land in my lap in my career lifetime. One that has the Den DNA inherently built in byĀ prioritizing function, but never at the expense of form. Every drawer considered. Every sightline intentional. Every material chosen to coexist with the other. With a client who trusted the process entirely (and a shared deep love for second hand treasures), this kitchen is chef’s kiss in every sense of the word. It’s layered, it’s warm, it’s practical and it knows how to shine šŸ˜˜šŸ‘ŒšŸ» If Den gets to build more homes like this, I’ll consider myself the luckiest person in the world 🄹 Kitchen cabinets in Sage colour designed by yours truly and bespoke built Worktop is calacatta viola sourced and designed by yours truly Red cabinets existing and built in recessed Cork from @bricoflor.uk Tap and pot filler is reclaimed Floors bespoke designed by yours truly from @capietra Knobs and handles from @petrahardware Hob and backsplash tiles from @domustiles Hob from @rangemasteruk Spotlights from @corstonarchitecturaldetail Wall colour is Temple Bar from @mylands_london Photography some me, some @kristy_noble Styling by Den Design and project by Den #home #homerenovation

I hope this room inspires you to be bold and brave in your bedrooms ✨ When I look at photos from this project, a rush of warmth and pride sets in. The trust and confidence my client had in the vision was the most crucial ingredient in this transformation. When I see these images, I don’t just see a design, I see her. This space feels entirely personal, and there’s no better feeling than capturing someone so honestly within their own home. We’re storytellers through the medium of design at the end of the day 🄹 Just wait until you see the full kitchen šŸ¤“ Ceiling pendant @ebay_uk Ceiling spots and switches @corstonarchitecturaldetail Wall light @villabolognapottery Wall spots @marsetbcn Shelving unit from Lampmasters Wall colours @littlegreenepaintcompany Pleat and @farrowandball Tunsgate Green Ceiling colour in gloss 🤤 @farrowandball Inchyra Blue Window and shutter colour in Mouse’s Back @farrowandball Door @ebay_uk Joinery handles @jamesmshaw Bedside switches @swtchuk Photography some by @kristy_noble some by Moi Styling by Moi Project by Den 😌

A simple flick with worlds apart. What a finished photo will never show are the millions of decisions, thousands of moments of coordination, hundreds of messages, and countless hours of (so many) people working together to bring something to life. I’ve been thinking a lot about creativity lately and how I lean harder into my craft when I’m low, or when the world feels heavy. There’s something grounding about making. I hope we never take for granted our ability to create. It heals, it connects, and it reminds us what’s possible. Thank you for letting me into your worlds and homes. I’m endlessly grateful to build, shape, and share these spaces with you šŸ’• More on this Den baby to come… #home #homerenovation

Couldn’t get over the buttery yellow, so of course it had to make its way into the kitchen too 😌 This kitchen was a labour of love and a whole lotta coordination. One of the most satisfying spaces to build, design, and manage, kitchens really do pack a punch. Finding the sweet spot between cost, practicality, and aesthetics is always a challenge, but this one ticked every box.
