The joy that is adoption!
We often hear about how adopting an animal can add so much joy to your life. The old adage, “Who rescued who?” often comes to mind. For Matt and Hudson, this saying rings true!
We recently had the pleasure of catching up with Matt to hear about his experiences since adopting Hudson. He reflects on how Hudson has brought a new vibrancy to his world, making everyday moments more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Life for Matt now looks like workdays with a fun, new coworker who not only brings great hair and an exceptional work ethic, but also happiness and light to both Matt’s life and the lives of those he meets!

There is no instruction manual for fatherhood—there are books, of course, but those are only advice. I was fortunate to be raised by a father with strong instincts. He knew how to express love and compassion, balancing warmth with firmness. He was intelligent, a careful listener, and generous with his guidance. He led by example, making clear through his actions the value he placed on family and friendship. He was a well-rounded man, devoted to a lifelong career, rich with interests and hobbies, and famous for his fierce sweet tooth. He shared his feelings openly and never hesitated to show his pride. In my father’s passing, I reflect on his life and his example of fatherhood. My hope is to honor him by representing him well.
It’s been a long summer and it’s amazing to spring into fall! Feeling very grateful for so many things…small accomplishments like picking an apple off a tree (in the rain) has never felt so epic and amazing!
@nyulangone - The best hospital! The best team of doctors, the best team of nurses, the best PT/OT and the best dog therapy! Thank you for the best care we could imagine! (Note: Hudson isn’t the patient, he’s the Attending Director of Interventional Canine Therapy!)
We’re back again with Matt and Hudson!
In a touching reflection, Matt opens up about his journey in adopting Hudson from the Humane Society of New York. He shares how the warmth and support from the team made all the difference, helping him navigate the adoption process with confidence and clarity.
Choosing to adopt from the Humane Society of New York was a conscious decision for Matt, rooted in his understanding of our mission and deep ties to the community. He appreciates how HSNY strives to create lasting connections, ensuring each animal finds their perfect match.
Every adoption tells a unique story, and we’re truly honored to help create beautiful chapters—one forever home at a time! Happy tails, Matt and Hudson!
