Would you believe me if I told you this was all improvised?
We used specific improvisation scores to begin crafting duet material. The focus was on shifting power, reframing classical partnering, exploring what it means for one body to become draped, the other to become structure. It felt both unfamiliar and deeply recognizable.

This rehearsal with Kiera became an excavation of an old solo. We reimagined this solo- first made with @kendall_ramirez - and let it unfold into a seven minute durational piece. Though it won’t all fit into what’s being presented at MadFest, it holds something I know we’ll return to. One of my favorite moments came from the duet material that @moveanywhere translated through their unique movement vocabulary.

#atlantadance Early rehearsal for NecRomantic. We began by learning a solo from a larger work performed last spring. Each dancer then built a solo that held onto its essential details. From these, we shaped a unison phrase—individual memories forming something shared.

this dance is very dear to my heart, from initial conception to our final rehearsal she has taken on a life of her own and become exactly what she needed to be. working with kiera has been the highlight of my year, and this is just the beginning of a very special collaborative duo ✨ making art is healing and terrifying and gratifying and nothing would mean more to me than my friends and family and colleagues coming to see it!
