Sad news out of Mammoth Mountain with the passing of legendary skier and snow cat operator, Bernie Rosow on Thursday. Bernie was on a backcountry tour of nearby Bloody Mountain with friends when he suffered a medical episode, possibly to do with his heart.
Bernie spent a few years working as a groomer in Thredbo around 2012-14 where he has a lot of friends. He quickly gained a reputation as the best and most enthusiastic skier on the mountain.
Renowned for his POV edits which garnered him 40000 followers on @bernierosow . Bernie loved skiing more than most and his power, style and progression made the perfect subject for ski photographers.
He featured in Chillfactor and on @mountainwatch many times over the years, including on a couple of covers, and was the ultimate guide on our trips to Mammoth.
Our thoughts are with Bernie’s partner Amber, son Alexander , family and friends.

The local crew making the most of a sunny mid-April powder day @palisadestahoe yesterday. One of the best late season days in a while after a strong storm dropped 110cms over the previous three days. 🎥 @rileybathurst
Winter in Japan’s Gunma Prefecture offers diverse experiences - deep powder, incredible mountain views, frozen rivers and warm onsens - all within easy reach of Tokyo. ❄️🏂
There are about 20 ski resorts in Gunma and the region has been a popular destination for local skiers and snowboarders for many years. Check out our story on Winter in Gunma (link in bio) and you’ll understand why.

Great racing from Adam Lambert last night to win the final snowboard cross World Cup of the season at Mt. St. Anne in Canada. 🥇It was Adam’s second win this year and he finished in second place on this seasons’s World Cup rankings. 👏👏👏👏 congratulations @lambo_sbx on epic season .
A few photos from around the resorts this morning as a cold front crosses the Aussie Alps. About 15cms of heavy snow has fallen above 1700m and we should see another 10cms at higher elevations before snowfalls ease tonight. Temp in Hotham is -2 with southerly winds gusting up to 74km/hr at Thredbo top station. It is currently a cold 3.8 degrees in Jindabyne!
The snow will melt quickly as it warms up again tomorrow, sunshine and temps climbing back to +12 on Sunday.
