So many ideas, yet so little time.
I dusted off my @hellorokoko smartsuit and recorded some mocap. Super raw capture, quick bind of the rig to my character (at the bottom). No hands and loose weight painting for the pig.
You’d think an unemployed/self-employed/whatever-you-want-to-call-it situation would leave endless time to learn and create… but that really hasn’t been the case for me.
Even with a lack of time, I love every second I get to dive into animation. It takes time. Patience. A lot of willingness to keep going when it feels like you’re taking 100 steps backward.
Of course, with the current landscape…could I use AI to fast-track things? Absolutely. Prompt some nonsense. Type type type…and voilà .
But where’s the fun in that?
I’m obviously not anti-technology. I use it to help bring my ideas to life, but there’s still an immense amount of time and effort required just to reach a point where I can create something meaningful. None of it feels instant.
That’s the part I value most…the process. The investment. Watching energy and repetition slowly turn into growth.
Art, to me, is a reflection of the time you’re willing to give it.

Glass is one of those things that separates a good render from a great one. đź«—
We decided to put that to the test. Three types, all procedurally modelled in Houdini, all about pushing how light actually behaves through different surfaces.
First up: stained glass. Colour, refraction, caustics and the way light breaks down into something almost ethereal when it passes through.
The goal wasn't just pretty renders. It was understanding why glass looks the way it does, so we can make it look right in any scene, any lighting condition, any brief.
