Grass said no, so we made a moss garden 🌿 Some backyard spots are just never going to be great lawn areas. Too much shade, too much moisture, awkward soil, constant patchiness… So we turned this corner into a Japanese-inspired moss garden using our live Mood Moss, black polished rocks, stepping stones, bamboo, a Japanese maple, moss rock, solar lights, and an acquascape feature Moss made way more sense here. For a lush moss carpet, we needed a major pH adjustment down to the ideal 5.5-6.0 range. The Process (Our Secret Sauce): The Amendments: We worked with the client to integrate elemental sulfur, 23+ cubic feet of peat moss, and special acidic fertilizer to successfully prep the soil, dropping the pH from 8.5 to 5.5-6.0 in a test area. The Install: Over just 7 hours, a custom blend of live moss mats and fragments was laid like a beautiful, green puzzle. This attention to detail ensured immediate, stunning coverage. The Payoff: The finished lawn is not only breathtaking, but it also acts like an erosion control, perfect for managing runoff at the bottom of that steep hill! 💦 The final result is absolutely stunning, and the client is VERY satisfied with their new, low-maintenance green space!
