About Briana: Named the Stepping Ambassador of Belgium by BRUZZ, Briana Ashley Stuart (@briana.ashley.stuart ) is an American Brussels-based performer, choreographer, and entrepreneur whose work bridges Stepping and New Jack Swing through rhythm, history, and cultural identity. A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, she has performed and taught internationally with StepAfrika!, the world’s first professional stepping company, offering students an authentic connection to the culture and technique of Stepping. She recently shared her research in percussive dance at TEDxBrussels.
Raised in the ’90s and immersed in New Jack Swing, Briana connects the groove, musicality, and expressive style of the era with the percussive power and collective energy of Stepping. Both art forms, rooted in African American culture, center rhythm as storytelling and community as performance. Through her work, she honors their shared legacy while creating dynamic, culturally grounded experiences on stage.

Dancing alongside such incredibly talented artists, whose backgrounds are popping, breaking, sabar, afro, salsa, and more, was a profound experience for me.
