The feet is more than a physical form, they represent the soul’s passage through consciousness, self-discovery, and divine realization.
The light that shines forth through one’s path is not just a mere representation of his physical appearance but a focus on what one stands for and how rooted he is. This work reflects the moment an individual becomes aware of life beyond material existence a transition from spiritual blindness to illumination.
Every step of struggle, learning, faith, and transcendence, revealing that awakening is not sudden, but a gradual process shaped by lived experiences. The spiritual awakening that takes one to a deeper but higher level. A moment of clarity where the soul begins to recognize its purpose and a journey of elevation through consciousness.

The exhibition opening had to be rescheduled due to certain reasons. And this is the current opening date of the exhibition. You won't want to miss it.
I am pleased to announce that I will be exhibiting my works in Cotonou, Benin Republic 🇧🇯.
The exhibition will take place at @tamarin.cotonou Tamarin hotel, and I will be exhibiting along side several amazing artists from Nigeria and Benin. The exhibition is themed “Routes and Crossings”.
Routes and Crossings explores how cultural expression moves across and beyond borders. Culture transcends geopolitical cartography; its movement, forged through migration, trade, and digital networks, consistently bypasses physical and political containment. Despite escalating surveillance and hardening borders, cultural exchange remains resilient. This exhibition examines the tension between tightening global restrictions and the fluid circulation of ideas. In an era of unevenly distributed movement, culture persists as a subversive force, and navigating ancestral pathways to redefine connection beyond the limits of the nation’s state.
You are warmly invited to this exhibition to support, engage and witness this history in the making.

Concluding my residency at Kuta Nigeria, this final work serves as a critical reflection on the evolution of Nigerian communication and the transition of the newspaper from a primary source of authority to a relic of "frozen history".
Historically, the newspaper represented a centralized model of information. Since the inception of Iwe Iroyin, narratives were curated and filtered by a few institutions, creating a fixed, authoritative voice for society. I explore the shift from this structured past to our contemporary digital landscape in this piece, where social media has fragmented communication into a multiplicity of decentralized and often unstable voices. Through the use of newspaper material, I transform structured, linear information into layered and reassembled forms. Central to this work is the democratization of information. The introduction of mobile devices has bridged the distance between the individual and the global narrative. By depicting the intimacy of our relationship with technology, I explore how we have moved from being recipients of curated news to active players in a boundless information exchange. In this new era, communication is no longer a controlled commodity but a universal right, defined by access, immediacy, and a matter of perspective.

This is another piece I created during my recent residency, this piece explores the dual identity of the Yoruba drum. Traditionally hand-carved from a single timber, the drum is both a masterwork of craftsmanship and a sophisticated tool for communication. This work highlights its historical legacy as a primary vessel for passing information.
A single object used to bridge distances and communication with the people in the community.

These pieces, born from my recent residency, serve as a meditation on the oldest social technology we possess: the spoken word.
Orality is the architect of history. It built the legends and folk tales that define us. Yet, in the space between the speaker and the listener, there is a distortion. These two frames are a single unit, one mouth and one ear, connected by a bridge of shifting air.
I am interested in how easily information morphs into misinformation. What begins as a lapse in memory or a deliberate nudge becomes the listener’s absolute reality. My work captures this metamorphosis: the point where “truth” becomes a matter of perspective in communication.

During the transformative month-long residency, I embarked on an exhilarating journey of creativity and self-discovery, one that began with the inception of a particularly special piece right at the start of my time there. This experience not only invigorated my artistic spirit but also infused a completely new and vibrant energy into my work. The piece I created during this period was groundbreaking for me, as it marked the first time I explored this particular style and approach. I was completely enamored by the feelings it evoked within me, a sense of joy and liberation that flows through the creative process.
The painting features a serene depiction of a female figure at rest, conveying a sense of tranquility and introspection. I aimed to embrace a greater sense of freedom in my expression, allowing the strokes of my palette knife to dance across the canvas as I employed an array of vivid colors. The texture and movement created by the knife added a dynamic quality to the piece, making the colors pop and giving life to the emotional essence I wanted to portray.
Arriving at the residency, I was immediately enveloped by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as the location itself was nestled in a charming and peaceful town. The environment provided a perfect backdrop for contemplation and inspiration; it felt like a sanctuary where I could retreat from the chaos of everyday life. I arrived with an optimistic mindset, eager to explore the potential of my creations over the course of the month. Although I had a general idea of the themes I wanted to explore during this residency, the novelty of my ideas sparked an insatiable curiosity within me, urging me to push boundaries and delve deeper into my artistic practice.
There is something truly magical about creating art without the constraints of expectation or fear. In those moments, when I allowed myself to dive into the depths of my imagination and create freely, I felt an unmatched sense of fulfillment and connection to my work.

About a month ago, I made this piece before going for my residency. And it was the first of its kind. I had to try something new this time around. I absolutely love the calm and tension it brings at the same time.
This piece talks about the irony of being able to boast in one's strength, knowing that your strength could fail you. At one point or the other. You boast in your own strength when you know you have the skin for anything that is being thrown at you. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have faith in yourself or be hopeful about your journey. But to boast on your own strength is to recognize a greater strength than yours.
