On the latest @morsecodepodcast , Korby shares a line from his godmother that's become famous in his family: "Our greatest assets taken too far become liabilities." The impulse to be productive, to shoulder the burden, to make life easier for other people — that's a good thing. But to do it constantly at the expense of yourself is probably a good way to die young. @jordanritterconn picks it up from there: men have to treat their friendships, their looser ties, their mental well-being like they matter. Because they're going to impact the way you show up in everything else. Link in @morsecodepodcast bio to watch or listen to the full episode.

On the latest @morsecodepodcast , journalist @jordanritterconn talks about what changed in his own friendships after spending years interviewing men about their lives for his new book American Men. He started doing something simple: reaching out to a friend without an excuse. Not to watch a game. Not to share a meme. Just to say, I'd like to see you. @jordanritterconn interviewed more than 50 men about the parts of their lives they don't talk about — sex, trauma, violence, loneliness, the distance between who they think they're supposed to be and who they actually are. Four of those stories became American Men, his new book, out now. This conversation gets into the process — what happens when a shy journalist discovers that a notepad is a superpower, and what changed when he started asking the men in his own life the same questions he'd been asking strangers. On the latest @morsecodepodcast , Korby and @mollytuttle discover they both saw the same show - @gillianwelchofficial and @davidrawlingsmusic at the Ryman — and had the exact same reaction. Two guitar nerds losing it over the same Ryman show is a pretty good summary of why this conversation exists. I don’t give a shit about the music industry what I care about is art and its impact on the human soul. Was my true joy to put on a celebration of the 100th episode of the @morsecodepodcast , and to see a cross section of Nashville’s top shelf talents make the moment something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I think everyone who caught the show felt like they were part of something special. THANK YOU @laramielomanto and @hammondjared for capturing these images, in addition to everything you do for Ranch Vovo and the Morse Code Podcast. Art will never die except for those who refuse to see it

On the latest @morsecodepodcast , @mollytuttle remembers the first time she went to Nashville — age 11 or 12, for a Kids on Bluegrass event. It was there she met Sierra Hull, Sarah Jarosz, Jared Walker... kids her age who were already fully formed musicians. She'd been feeling good about her playing up to that point. Then she walked into a room where good meant something different. Link in @morsecodepodcast bio to watch or listen to the full episode.

Full circle moment. Ten years ago, when @mollytuttle first moved to Nashville, she and Korby co-wrote a song called "Friend and a Friend." It made her debut album. Now she's a 3x Grammy winner. She came over to play that song — for the first time since they wrote it — and talk about flatpicking, bluegrass kids, what the @Grammys are really like, and the sacrifice you make when you go for a creative life, whatever level you're at.
