The Spotlight Series: Episode 01 🗝️ HOTEL HAYA At The Rooted Door, we believe the soul of a city is found in the hands that built it. We are launching The Spotlight Series to peel back the curtain on the craft, the passion, and the humans that deserve to be heard. Our mission is to elevate the cultural arts by celebrating the stories that keep Tampa’s legacy alive. For our first episode, we are revisiting the heart of Ybor: @HotelHaya . Every corner of this property is a love letter to craftsmanship. We are honored to shine a light on the hands that built the magic: • @AlfonsoArchitects : For drafting the lines where Tampa’s history meets its future. Their approach ensured every detail—from the historic facades to the mid-century Cuban interiors—feels like a living part of the neighborhood. • @MoreanGlass : For the fire and breath behind the glass. Their hand-blown globes pay homage to the iconic streetlamps of Ybor, bringing the spirit of 7th Avenue inside. • Ron Francis & @EllisonBuilds : For the meticulous Venetian plaster and the hand-laid end-grain wood floors that ground the space in tactile, human history. This is a story worth telling. The Rooted Door is committed to celebrating the artists who give our city its soul. Happy Halloween 🎃 That means it's one week 'til Spooky Night Blow! Folks have asked, and YES! Costumes are encouraged, glowsticks are provided, and DJ entertainment is loaded with spooktacular goodness. We'll take care of snacks and drinks, with special thanks to @HerbanFlow for elevating our open bar with functional beverages and decadent non-alcoholic options for everyone. Who will we see at Night Blow?! 🔥✨ We're doing our first "Spooky" Night Blow on Saturday, November 8th at the Morean Glass Studio. The evening will be complete with costumes and seasonal surprises! Glass blowing after dark is a whole new take on the already actioned-pack art process, and is one not to miss. Back-lit by nothing more than a fiery hot kiln and our performers’ molten glass creations, Night Blow creates a spotlight on the heartbeat of glass-blowing, backed with synchronized music choreographed by the evening’s DJ. Spend this Saturday, October 11th, with the Morean! We've got three exciting events happening at 3 of our locations: From 9am - 5pm, join us at for our Great Glass + Clay Pumpkin Patch at the Morean Glass Studio ( 📌 714 1st Ave N) where you will find glass pumpkins for sale (and we'll have face painting!) From 10am - 4pm, head over to the Morean Center for Clay's Pumpkin Patch ( 📌 420 22nd St S) where you'll find fall-themed activities including a haunted house and face painting from 2pm - 4pm, owls flying in from Seaside Seabird Sanctuary from 3pm - 6pm, and then the opening reception for "Potter's Field", an exhibition showcasing MCC's Studio Members opens from 5pm - 9pm. Then finally, the opening reception for We Built this City: Women Artists of Shine and The Shooters we Know: Curated by BASK will be happening from 5pm - 8pm at the Morean Arts Center ( 📌 719 Central Ave).
