Tonight’s the night! “Martha’s Great American Tag Sale” is on ABC at 8/7c. Mom and I had such a great time attending, meeting some new friends, and catching up with some old ones! I’m also delighted with some of our finds, among them Martha’s sewing machine she used to teach viewers, and another.. her green garden cart! As an 8 year old watching PBS I was absolutely fascinated with this woman pushing around a wheelbarrow of cakes, straw, and flowers. Total surreal experience to go to her farm and find it for sale. My mom actually spotted it and purchased it! Since the sale, Mom’s new garden cart has made numerous appearances including the Late show with Seth Meyers as well as People magazine! It really is such a beautiful piece! (And don’t worry, Martha knows she’s welcome to use it anytime!!) Enjoy the show!!

Last week, I celebrated my 40th birthday in Las Vegas with @donnashipleyutz . One of the highlights of our trip were the dinners we enjoyed at @thebedfordbymarthastewart inside @parisvegas . This year was full!! Full of work, full of beauty, full of opportunity, and full of memories I’ll cherish forever. 🤍 I hold that gratitude alongside the grief, fear, and loss so many are experiencing. From families devastated by floods to families torn apart by policies that lack humanity. Joy and heartbreak can exist at the same time. Let’s never take a second of living life, or fighting for one another, for granted. 🤍

Congratulations to @marthastewart48 on the re-release of Entertaining! Originally published 43 years ago, this book is what started it all for Martha! I first came across a copy in 2005, tucked away in an antique store, and it completely transformed the way I thought about hosting. It opened my eyes, and my imagination, to what it truly means to entertain with intention. What began as curiosity quickly became both a lifelong passion and, ultimately, a career. The thoughtful attention paid to guests and the meticulous details that make small moments shine have guided everything I do. Whether it’s local honey drizzled over a generous wedge of honeycomb, an ombré of fruits and vegetables, or a hollowed-out cabbage doubling as a dip bowl, this book was the source of so many of those little “hacks,” as this generation calls them. One thing Entertaining, and the women in my family, taught me is to never take shortcuts. Bring the picnic blanket. Wrap your sandwiches in parchment and tie them with twine. Spend time foraging in your garden for the best of the season. Present a charcuterie board as if it were posing for a still-life painting. The extra time spent making life special for those attending your gatherings are part of what makes YOUR life so special. I’m overjoyed that Entertaining is back on shelves to inspire a new generation of hosts and creatives. Let’s all encourage them the way my family and friends encouraged me.
