TRACK RELEASE ✨🪐🪇 double shouldered snake (kurdi baile funk) now on bandcamp and soundcloud🫀🫀
i made this track during our flausen+ residency with the beautiful project by @cobr4cobr4 ( @kianarezvani & @sharonmuevesucuerpo )
Thank you so much for inviting me. It is an honour to work with and learn from these sounds from the Bolivian Andes and Rojhelat. The project "Levantando Polvo / از حافظه" explores the relation of body and territory of the two local dances from these two regions, focusing on footwork-based practices as form of dialogue with the land, and manifestation of resistance and resilience.
the track sampels music by Osman Hawrami, Las Chinchillas, and Farnood Elhami @osman.hawrami.official

"you are in my heart" is for all my beloved ones who we live afar from each other, and all teenagers struggling to find ourselves. We believe we can be stronger even tho we feel lonely and left behind. Im thinking of you and have you in my heart🤍
I had to share this track before the year end because it belongs to this season and will expire soon otherwise. I made it for @christina.harles video "cracks of light" a performance with teenage students.

✨ Lauren Oya Olamina (*20.07.2009) came to existance through the writing of Octavia Butler "Parable of the Sower", consisting of Lauren's diary entries spanning from 2024 - 2027. She lives in California amidst a collapsing U.S. society, devastated by human-made climate catastrophes, racial and economic injustice, fascism, drugs, and arms. She studies and teaches diverse survival strategies and currently is writing her book "Earthseed: the Book of the Living".
✨ Frantz Fanon (*20.07. 1925) is a Martinican psychiatrist, philosopher, and revolutionary whose works, such as "The Wretched of the Earth", critically examined colonialism, racism, and liberation struggles. A key figure in anti-colonial thought, he emphasized the psychological and political impacts of oppression while advocating for violent resistance as a means of decolonization. His ideas profoundly influenced postcolonial studies and revolutionary movements worldwide.

_______
@cobr4cobr4 shows insights into their current research project: a performative and speculative journey between the Bolivian Andes and East Kurdistan, in which dances, images, texts, myths and textiles interweave to create a world, where timelines dissolve and boundaries become blurred. Between utopia and dystopia, archive and dream.
Over the last few weeks I was mentoring @cobr4cobr4 for the @machtflausen residency at @meta_theater
Join us for the final performance on 12th July @meta_theater at 8pm.
The group @cobr4cobr4 will showcase a work in progress from their artistic research project “levantando polvo / از حافظه”.
During their residency the group focused on two regions: Macha, Bolivian Andes and East Kurdistan, Iran. Through a deeper look at the two dances from these regions - Tinku from Macha, and Halparke from Rojhelat, they reflect on embodiment/affirmation of land, Andean cosmovision, Kurdish liberation movement, anti-colonial resistance and community. Engaging with two archives of images, texts, textiles, objects, myths and memories the group is creating a hybrid, immersive and speculative world where facts, fantasies, dystopias, utopias, dreams, pasts and futures blend non-linearly, where borders dissolve and the distances of the two territories melt unpredictably.
Thanks to @kianarezvani@sharonmuevesucuerpo@parallax.decal@morayaa__ for this amazing journey!
🪞 Tonight @morayaa__ will be playing for us from 20:00 🪞
Come listen to a set of ambient, experimental and field recordings that is both dreamy and dystopian.
Come enjoy your evening with us this Friday February 23!
