Vehicular collision is one of the main causes of death in both wild and domestic animals alike. As we build more apartment complexes and add more lanes to highways, more animals lose their homes and are left to navigate the confusing, concrete coated world we’ve created for ourselves. Wildlife crossings are a possible solution to this man made issue, but the funding for them is minimal and there isn’t enough data being collected. UC Davis has a tool- California Roadkill Observation System (CROS)- to help report roadkill and collect data that can be used to help make the world a little safer for our quadrupedal friends.
