Earlier this year, Chongyan Liu @chongyan___liu received the Best Director Award for After All at the 2026 Soho London Independent Film Festival @soholondonfilmfest In February, the film’s poster was displayed on The Kensington on West Cromwell Road in London, commissioned by JCDecaux @jcdecaux_uk and designed by Zaha Hadid Design @zahahadiddesign . The screen is a 30-metre-long curved stainless-steel digital billboard. The After All poster was one of 10 winners in rotation on the screen, appearing in its own slot across the full week beginning February 4th, 2026. A massive thank you to Beomha Woo @entrwvert , whose poster has been an integral part of the film’s festival campaign from its World Premiere onwards. Beomha also redesigned the poster to fit the screen’s specifications, and we’re delighted to have collaborated on this project. Upcoming Screening Info: This Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, a selection of the award-winning films, including After All, will be screened at VUE Piccadilly @vue . Doors Open: 6:30 pm Screening: 7:00 pm If you happen to be in London, we’d love to see you there! Photograph in first slide taken by Zijun Chen @zijun_celine

New Perspective Award After All - Chongyan Liu @chongyan___liu @moorethomases Through its very measured approach to regain control over an event beyond anyone's control, the film succeeds masterfully in turning the steril and the calculated into a deeply moving dissection of grief and responsibility. Through distance, we get closer and closer to the character until we're forced to carry that weight with her. #NewGen2025 #NewGenFilmFestival #movielovers #berlin #Berlinevent #Asianfilms #shortfilms #shortsselection #Awards #NewPerspectiveAward #AfterAll #ChongyanLiu

🇩🇪 German Premiere | After All 事过方觉 After All will have its German premiere at the 4th Berlin NewGen Film Festival @new_gen_berlin screening as part of the NewGen Live Action Short: Lingering Immanence programme. This occasion carries particular significance, as the film is inextricably tied to the city of Berlin — to its hauntings; to what remains. The tragedy that inspired the story unfolded here a little over four years ago, and the work itself returns to that same landscape. Sunday, 26th October 2025 | 12:00–14:00 (CEST) 📍 Rollberg Kino, Rollbergstraße 70, 12049 Berlin 🎫 Regular: 11€ 真人短片集C|暗流潜涌 《事过方觉》|劉重燕 | 2025 “After All” closes the programme in a quieter register — a tentative work of mourning and slow repair, suggesting that what lingers may also open toward renewal. Programme Description: “To inhabit a body is to bear its silences and fractures. If longing reaches outward, immanence draws us inward—toward what remains unresolved within. These films navigate the fragile terrain of inner experience, weaving together bodily fantasies, ecological reflections, collective tensions, and solitary healing into a chorus of voices. Together, they gesture toward an existential undercurrent—what persists, what resists resolution, what lingers.” About the Festival: The Berlin NewGen Film Festival was founded by a collective of young filmmakers and film enthusiasts, dedicated to discovering and supporting a new generation of Asian filmmakers shaping the future of Asian cinema. Since its inception in 2022, the festival has curated three editions in Berlin and hosted special screenings across Europe, including in Amsterdam and Paris. In collaboration with the China Contemporary Animation Art Archive, it also launched N.A. Talk, a platform for dialogue and collaboration within the Asian film industry. A number of the cast & crew will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. Link in bio for tickets.
