When I first started my mastering business 10 years ago, this is what my desk looked like. It was a custom Sterling Modular desk that cost me nearly $4k and was filled with another $20-$30k of outboard gear at any given time.
Today, I no longer use any of the stuff pictured including the desk itself. I stay completely in the digital domain and use some very specific plugins to tailor the music where I feel it needs to go. This approach allows me to be consistent with my workflow, very efficient, and my work has never sounded better.

If my mastering studio were to ever catch on fire and I could only take two items with me, I would take my @audeze_official LCD-4 headphones and my Audeze Deckard headphone amp/dac. Both of these items are no longer made and are rather difficult to find on the used market.
In my experience, using the two together is like listening to a set of full range mastering speakers that cost $100k in a purpose built control room that’s well tuned.
When I’m not mastering, you will find me mixing for live broadcast at Gold River Calvary Chapel where everything happens live and in the moment with no do overs. I’m told there are literally 500-700 people that tune in each week to watch and listen to the broadcast from all over the world. As a mastering engineer, I use my many years of experience to help insure that my broadcast mix sounds good and that it will translate as intended to anyone that listens to the broadcast in their car, on a blue tooth speaker, TV, computer, phone, etc. #broadcastmixing #broadcastengineer #livemixing #mixing #mixingengineer
