What makes a death metal vocalist truly great? Whether they are guttural, raspy, or barely intelligible, we are exploring the qualities that allow certain vocalists to stand out from the crowd of cookie-cutter, and cookie monster, styles. In this discussion, we share our favorite vocalists and examine the unique elements that make each of them exceptional. #ihatemusicpodcast #metalpodcast #musicpodcast #asphyx #obituary #hailofbullets

Incredibly stoked to announce that I have partnered with Brujos Brewing as their Live Music Director. This is the first event where we have worked together, and I’m looking forward to many more in the future. Brujos has my favorite beer and tacos in Portland, the best people, and the best space in town. So thankful for this partnership. Keep an eye out for many many more killer events in the future. I hope everyone enjoys the music I have curated for this event.

Episode 112 - Absurdity, Punk, and Oscar Meyer with Food Fortunata (Wheelchair Full of Old Men, Fossil Fuel, Sockeye) Dear Food, It was an honor to finally have you sit down with I Hate Music for the podcast. As a long-time friend and a true hero of ours, having the chance to discuss your work was a personal highlight. The impact you have made as a pillar of outsider music—through Wheelchair Full of Old Men Records and your work with Sockeye, Fossil Fuel, and The Poops—cannot be overstated. During the episode, we wanted to express how fundamental your label and your music have been to our own creative work and our broader perception of art. Thank you for sharing the history of the label since its inception in 1988 and discussing the evolution of your projects over the years. I am looking forward to sharing this conversation with our listeners. Best regards, I Hate Music #ihatemusicpodcast #metalpodcast #musicpodcast #sockeye #fossilfuel #outsider #onemoretortilla #gunknife

Episode 110 - Real Death and Violence in Music No, we don’t mean “Human” and “Eternal Nightmare.” We are raising a question regarding whether actual violence and death associated with music and art changes your perception of the artist and the work itself. Specifically, does Burzum sound different to you knowing Varg killed Euronymous? Can you still listen to Burzum? More broadly, how do the actions of artists affect your enjoyment of their art, whether positively or negatively? Ultimately, can you separate the art from the artist, and does Mayhem's music sound better to you given their history of violence. #ihatemusicpodcast #metalpodcast #musicpodcast #mayhem #burzum #dissection #emperor #blackmetal
