The Webby Awards were surreal to say the least. I’m honored that my little monster show made the list of winners, and grateful to the team and the fans who helped me get here. Monsters matter. Public media matters.

I am so grateful for the talented folks @pbs and @pbsds . An incredible night to celebrate that felt more relevant and powerful than ever. Congratulations to the Webby Media Company of the Year. This PBS kid is still in awe I get to call y’all family.

My brother, who appeared in our award-winning episode, said I better have a good #5WordSpeech for the #webbys or I won’t hear the end of it. Any ideas?

We did it! And it’s all thanks to you! Monstrum’s Hat Man/sleep paralysis demon episode won a Webby for How-To, Explainer, and DIY Video & Film. I’m so proud of our team, grateful to my brother for being on camera for this episode, and for the further proof that monsters have meaning. I better start working on that five-word speech! #thewebbyawards

Lumberjacks fear them, but they ever see them. What it looks like, no one knows. Legends of the Hidebehind emerge in the 19th century but continue today. These monstrous animals lurk behind the tree trunks, never revealing their true form, until it’s too late. It has an uncanny ability to shield itself from human view, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there, silently stalking you through the trees— Art by @samuel_allan_illustrator

This constant droning sound can’t be heard by everyone. But for those who can, it creeps in at night when everyone else is quiet. Is it aliens? The Earth itself? @monstrumpbs host @dremilyzarka explores some theories. For more Monstrum, catch up on episodes by heading to PBS Storied on YouTube’

Happy Krampusnacht! Krampus’s historical origins are generally believed to have emerged onto the Yuletide scene in Slavic and Austrian celebrations. Winter festivals in the Alpine regions of Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, and Italy all feature versions of this monstrous anti-Santa, though originally ā€œKrampusā€ was really more of a category of monster rather than a single entity. Tied to centuries of masking tradition, and used to scare kids and adults alike, they dole out punishments to the naughty. Don’t let Krampus’s switch get you! Art by @samuel_allan_illustrator
