Yesterday I released a new demo called 'N.E.R.D'.
If you like whiplash inducing r&b you may enjoy it. She's kind of bad for your heath, but also might also heal your eye from when you windexed it last year from listening to Window :(
I created it in mostly one sitting after my online musíca homie sent me a sample. It was just me on my couch with my laptop, logic and one beaten pair of audio technica headphones that is 7 years later still hanging on by super glue, duct tape and prayer. I actually got lower back pain from sitting there for so damn long hence the lyric ' back arthritis, chronic back bending'.
It turned into something I kinda didn't expect- kinda rough around the edges, lofi, fun, expressive and structureless. I think all the songs I make that feel like one long interlude or bridge turn out to be my favourite. I always geeked over alot of the songs from Solange's ' When I Get Home' for that reason. No over refinement, not overcooking a chicken until its so dry you tearing up. Just like how when a baby freshly comes out and its kind of gross to begin lol with but it's also kind of innocently beautiful, cos life was just created from nothing. I mean humans are inherently naked, we don't come modded, neatly packaged or with our hands inherently lotioned. I always kind of struggled with this (I'm a virgo) but this was my attempt working on trying to share more of the unpolished. The drums were exported too loud before I had hard drive issues but i just had 2 deallmaoo
I speak to a few different things on N.E.R.D, a bit about trying to unlearn people pleasing and over-extending, but mostly to the many horrific genocides that are happening on indigenous soil all over the world. As cliché as it sounds I believe music is something that does unify people in times of uncertainty. Even now, when the music industry has taken a different form, technology/ AI is super prominent, you still see people out here connected through music.

It will be my first time ever doing a solo set without mi lovely band & first gig in over a year.
