Moms just know things. Like how we’ve actually banned assault weapons before, so we can absolutely do it again.
From the kitchen table to conversations about gun safety, moms know best.

HUGE victory in Virginia! Governor @abigailspanberger has signed more than 20 gun safety bills — including a ban on the sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines — into law. This makes Virginia the 11th state to enact such a ban, alongside critical protections for domestic violence survivors, a ban on ghost guns, and measures to hold the gun industry accountable.
“For years, the will of the people was silenced by a Governor’s pen. Today, thanks to gun sense lawmakers, including our very own Moms Demand Action volunteers, the voices of survivors, parents, and students across the Commonwealth have finally prevailed,” said Mike Fox, a Virginia @momsdemand volunteer.
Moms Demand Action volunteers now make up 20% of Virginia’s House Democratic Majority. This historic package was championed by our own volunteers-turned-lawmakers and signed by a volunteer-turned-governor!
Governor DeSantis just signed a bill that effectively ends gun-free zones at public colleges and universities in Florida, and allows faculty and staff to act as armed guards on campus. This reckless move comes just one year after the mass shooting at Florida State University.
For months, @studentsdemand & @momsdemand volunteers and gun violence survivors have raised their voices against this dangerous legislation. Florida lawmakers ignored their calls for action.
Shame on @flgovrondesantis and every Florida lawmaker who worked to pass this dangerous bill. More guns for more people in more places will only lead to more tragedy.
VICTORY IN VIRGINIA! Former Moms Demand Action volunteer Governor @AbigailSpanberger just made history by signing a ban on the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the NRA's home state. Virginia is now the 11th state to enact such a ban.
None of this would have been possible without the tireless advocacy of our @va_momsdemandaction volunteers, survivors, and other gun safety advocates who have spent years demanding change and flipped the legislature in 2025.
This is just the beginning Virginia! Help us keep pushing forward for gun safety by texting READY to 644-33 to get involved.
Minnesota legislators: if you support gun violence prevention, say it out loud. If you won’t, voters will draw their own conclusions. Elections are six months away, and we won’t forget.
Thanks to Chad Kuyper of Minnesota Moms Demand Action for making this clear this morning at the Capitol.
Four years ago today, a man armed with an AR-15-style rifle and high-capacity magazines entered Tops Friendly Markets in Buffalo, New York. He was a white supremacist targeting the Black community in the shooting. Ten people were killed, all of whom were Black, and three others were wounded.
People should never have to fear being shot because of the color of their skin. Guns make hate and white supremacy deadlier. Today and every day, we hold those who died in Buffalo in our hearts. We work to #DisarmHate and #EndGunViolence in their honor.
Just like the color orange, gun violence can’t be ignored. On June 5, National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we’ll shine a light on this preventable crisis by wearing orange. 🧡
Show your support by wearing orange, sharing a photo on social media, and using the #WearOrange hashtag in your posts! You can find a Wear Orange Weekend event in your community by texting ORANGE to 644-33 or clicking the 🔗 in our bio.
The eight children who were shot and killed in a horrific act of domestic violence last month in Shreveport, LA, were laid to rest over the weekend. We remember the young lives stolen by preventable gun violence and honor them with action: Jayla, Shayla, Kayla, Layla, Mar’Kaydon, Sariahh, Khedarrion, and Braylon.
Easy access to guns makes domestic violence exceptionally deadly. More must be done to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and we call on Louisiana lawmakers to make it happen.

Thank you for turning heartbreak into action by holding lawmakers and the gun industry accountable for their role in our nation’s gun violence crisis. Keep standing up for what is right, and #KeepGoing.
