25 years ago Molodi and the Rhythm Cartel were created on the UNM campus. It's an honor to still be creating body percussion decades later, and extra special to share the Molodi stories with a new generation of students and friends back where it all began!
Old friends new friends yeah we like how that sounds... shonuff on the get down! 💯🙌🏾 #gimmesomemo
Looking back as we move forward.🎉
Spring 2024 @sfmoma with @sfusdarts and IMOD artists in residence, @molodilive@antwan.davis@jnious
This Educator PD used body percussion as a tool for communication, storytelling, educator/student connection, and community building.

Looking back on the IMOD Moving Southwest Dance Festival in @santafe.nm Summer 2022, where IMOD hosted over 300 events, we can’t help but celebrate the incredible work of our inaugural Artists-in-Residence, @molodilive
The company joined us for a full week of classes, workshops, and a two-weekend (sold out) run of PAATI at the @nmschoolforthearts Blackbox Theater. This clip captures the company giving a teaser of the show…pure magic.
Since then, IMOD has been honored to continue supporting MOLODI’s journey, hosting the company for ongoing work with the @sfusdarts , teaching 15,000 students, and for presentations at the @asianartmuseum , @sfmoma , and @shack15 in the @ferrybuilding
IMOD is proud to have supported the company with over $70,000 in grants from the @hewlett_found and @calartscouncil and continued collaboration from 2022–2025.
And if you want more of their brilliance, be sure to follow @jnious and @antwan.davis of thw @bodypercussionacademy , founders of this amazing company, for continued inspiration and behind-the-scenes magic.
Here’s to the power of rhythm, community, and long-lasting partnerships. ❤️🖤🤍

The highlight of that day arrived at golden hour. ALL of us were tired, and completely windswept from a whole day shoot by the ocean air from the bay. The co-founders of MOLODI, (our Artists in Residence from 2021–2024), stayed with us until the very end of the shoot. Their soul-filled body percussion rocked all of us, and reminded us exactly why our mission matters.
@molodilive left us certain of the work ahead: to create a new museum, where everyone gets to experience the joy of dance. @jnious@antwan.davis@ian.earth
Moving ANGER in the WRITE Direction
A 3-Week Healing Arts Workshop Series
Saturdays, November 8, 15, & 22 — 9:00–10:30 AM CST (Online) Registration link in the comments.
Anger is energy—powerful, raw, and often misunderstood. In this 3-week journey, we’ll learn to transform that energy into expression, reflection, and creation. Through guided writing and body percussion, participants will explore how movement and language can work together to release tension, deepen awareness, and invite healing.
Each week builds upon the last as we move from exploration to embodiment, from emotion to art. By the end of the series, participants will have created an original performance piece born from their own stories and rhythms—a personal testament to transformation and resilience.
Join us to discover how your anger can move you—not away from peace, but toward it.
Sanseria Murray is a poet, educator, and author of Morning Star Rising.
Jason Nious is an award-winning performing artist, educator, and director of Molodi body percussion ensemble.

What an exhilarating experience to represent the United States 🇺🇸 as cultural performers at the World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai @expo2025japan
Molodi spent 2 months performing and presenting stepping workshops at the World Expo, soaking up the sights and culture of Japan, exploring the 140+ cultural pavilions at the Expo, and to top it off... collaborating with flamenco artists @teatro_real from Spain 🇪🇸 at both the @worldexpousapavilion and @expospain2025 pavilions 🙌🏾💯. The power of the Arts to connect across cultures was on full display!
We had an amazing time in beautiful Japan 🇯🇵. Many thanks to our gracious hosts and all of the people who worked diligently behind the scenes to make this opportunity become a reality for us. MO 🫶🏾 to ya!
Which country will Molodi visit next? We'd love to collab!
