Such a great experience having The Lemon Yellow Tights with Cats screen at @theutahfilmfestival and get nominated for best experimental short. The highlight was definitely bumping into @alexboyemusic at the Award Ceremony and showing him a video of @taylormoulton and me in his children’s choir from two decades ago 😂

I’ve been lucky enough to create a number of lovely films so early in my career but this one will always be a special one for me. I was out of college for less than a year when I got to go to India for 3 weeks to work with a group of local farmers. Either my ECD, Jeff, really trusted me or he didn’t want to go sweat in the middle of India for a month. I’ll assume the former. We spent a lot of time scouting and talking with locals to understand and authentically tell the story of these powerful women who foster a cultural of leadership and empowerment despite common societal pressures not allowing them to hold the title of “farmer” like their male counterparts get to bare. So badass. Very grateful for the trust my team had in sending me along, helping us push our vision, and especially for Imraan and Conor for including me in every part of the production. So proud of how everything came together. What a wild ride this was dealing with 3 hr commute times to location, safety concerns due to local extremist groups that lead us to having local military personnel guard us on set, and of course doing this all in the days leading up to the pandemic. We got home literally the day before NY went into lockdown back in 2020. ON-SET vs FINAL SHOT for “The Lemon Yellow Tights with Cats” - The film’s visuals walk a fine line between beauty and unease—“on the surface, it’s a stream of stunning visuals, but the closer you look, the more unsettling it becomes,” says Director, Peter Molnar. “Revealing the internal struggle between embracing our uniqueness and the weight of societal opposition.” - Color was a key tool in shaping this emotional journey. Harbor Senior Colorist Oisín O’Driscoll explains, “The narrative was the key driver for our approach to the color. Playing with openness on the image to accentuate her self-confidence, conversely, the underwater and bath scenes have density and constriction.
